They're not just using trucks to catch them

Another example. No it is not. Yet another Big Brother mantra by the powers that be.
If you drive while ■■■■■■ you are out of it, cloud 9, fearless, reckless, dangerous, liable to do any ■■■■■■■ thing you would not do if sober…
Talking on the phone is like listening to a good radio programme, talking to a passenger, singing along to AC DC, … a distraction in different degrees depending on how engrossed you are in the conversation.
Hands free is exactly the same btw, the only difference is you are driving with both hands…I drive with one hand more often than not, it’s just what I have done for years…with no disasters up to press.

Can I stress I neither drink drive, or hold a phone, I am just putting things into perspective and thinking things through instead of readily accepting and swallowing all the official rhetoric bs attempted to be fed to me.
Some of you should try it some time. :unamused:

+1 we have a PC nanny state, and common purpose policing, along with a biased lying propaganda machine known as the controlled MSM

.

Just seen this is an old thread, so deleted my posts.

Rather than slate the police, why don’t you research the stats and see how many with no insurance or no licence etc are taking off of the road due to these operations. Do some not realise that this is what this dept is budgeted for … and they have other sections such as robbery, burglary squad etc. they all have different remits to what they do in the force.

When you consider they take criminals off of the road how can it be a bad thing. If stupid drivers abide by the rules they wouldn’t be needed would they.

the burglary squad do work hard I agree, they have to answer the phone in order to give you a crime number.

I was rear-ended by a BMW X3, on the M5, on my way to work in December 2016, wrote my car off. The c[zb]ck had been texting when I overtook him five minutes earlier. I still have pain from the whiplash injury I sustained.

I don’t think the law goes far enough when prosecuting drivers. Drivers caught whilst using a mobile device should be arrested and held in remand for a period of time until a suitable date can be arranged for a hearing. I wonder how many drivers would be tempted to use their phone if there was the prospect of several weeks in remand if they’re caught? And, whoever the offender is talking/texting to should be severely prosecuted too. It might encourage employers to fit decent hands free systems in their vehicles, or it might discourage them from calling their employees??

Hold on mate…

I’m at home, minding my own business, eating a packet of pork scratchings and watching youtube videos, when one of my many lady friends randomly texts me, begging “hello big boy, I really really need your piece tonight”, and I choose to ignore her, and the next thing I know I’m doing 4 weeks in the nick?

No, you didn’t instigate the conversation, she did. How are you supposed to know if she’s driving or not? She shouldn’t have sent the text, hypothetically.

I forgot to add, if she doesn’t tell you she’s driving in the texts then you have the evidence clearing you on your phone.
