There is no Escape

Nickyboy…WTF■■? Do you think you are doing some kind of public service by taking pictures of people going about their business?
Don’t answer because i am sure that you do.
I enjoy reading this forum because it helps me keep in touch with where i came from but self righteous attitudes like your’s sure make me glad i am not still there.
Seriously, has the level of crime in the UK got so low that there just isn’t any criminals about anymore so the police have to keep themselves occupied by harassing working guys?
Thats amazing as i am sure that there was loads of criminals when i lived there.

If they were driving whilst those photos were taken , where were you? I trust you were one of those strange people i keep seeing on a bridge taking photos and that you wrent driving at the time.

What makes someone a criminal, some one who breaks the law. Isnt using your mobile phone whilst driving against the law we make our selves easy targets although I do agree that I would prefer it if they were to go out catching scum bags like the ones that smashed all my brothers car windows but we all know what kind of society we live in.

From a SAFETY and not LEGAL point of view…
It is hard to determine from those pics of drivers on the A34 exactly what the situation was at the time - on the phone in heavy traffic or a lone LGV with nothing else about ■■?

nickyboy.
why don’t you post a picture of yourself? then we will all know what a real prat looks like.
i don’t like grasses. and taking these sort of pictures, then posting them on here, makes you a grass.

Vascoingles:
hope you asked those drivers about their image rights ? could get expensive if they get upset about their photo´s being taken

They had better stay at home then or are they going to sue every council in the country for taking their picture on cctv

Buycrider:
Nickyboy.I hope that you don,t mind me asking this question.

Are those vehicles actually in motion.■■

I may have missed your explanation, but “out taking pics on the A34” does not, for me , tell the whole story.

All the pics are of trucks driving on the A34, ive only cropped the image to highlight it.

Whats self righteous about taking photo’s? Have i sent he pics to the Police? No. Am i going to? No. What kind of public service do think i am performing? Have a posted their names, registrations etc? No.

And why would posting a pic of me make myself look like a prat? I’m not the one breaking the law. How does it make me a grass? Am i giving them to the Police? No. The drivers are visible to anyone driving along that road. The A34 if you have ever driven on it is a busy trunk road so i ask who is the prat, someone taking a pic or someone breaking the law.

I don’t care what they were doing at the time, i didn’t go out looking for law breakers to take pics of i just happened to notice them when going through my pics and such was the subject of the thread i posted them. I didn’t set out to grass anyone up or to cause trouble but do you really think someone reading delivery notes is paying attention to the road ahead?

Like i said i don’t care what they are dong behind the wheel so long as it doesn’t affect me, i’m not a saint i have done similar in the past i’m not denying that.

For the record out of the some 1500 pics i’ve taken this week these were the only only ones i noticed so the number is very small. A darn sight smaller than those people on phones etc when driving a car.

I have deleted the pics as they were not meant to cause a mass argument just a illustration that the Police obviuously do have reason to target drivers

you have posted some pictures on a public forum. The police could access this site and take action against these drivers.
you knew this before you posted the pictures. This is of course why you are a grass and a prat for not realising what effect your actions could have.

Point taken but i don’t see how the Police would be able to do anything when i delibrately didn’t show any registrations

The police would require a sufficient date/time stamp on each photo to do any prosecution

If the police did have registrations then all they wil do is to contact the company to inform them that one of their drivers has been spotted/photographed doing this or that and leave it up to the company to take care of.

I suspect that most companies would let the driver know and give that driver some ‘education’

In regards to the pictures posted on this subject and the comments made by some, it’s a case of “don’t shoot the messenger” aka “nickyboy”. He has simply highlighted the fact that some “professional” drivers choose to use their mobiles whilst driving, which we all know is against the law! I know I have and I bet most of you have from time to time, so nobody’s perfect.

However I think the day is fast approaching when using a mobile phone whilst driving will rank amongst the other driving no-nos as drink driving and drug driving, as latest research is now saying using a mobile makes a driver more likely to have an accident. Even using “hands-free” is an unnecessary distraction, how many of you have wandered out of lane when talking to the missus or mate on a quiet stretch of motorway?, and the best one, how many of you can remember who overtook you or what you passed when having a “detailed” chat whilst driving?

Many companies ban the use of mobiles on production sites for obvious reasons, you wouldn’t want the guy moving the nuclear fuel rods at BNFL having a heated discussion with his partner would you now? I bet even some HR depts are now advising their bosses to have a complete ban on mobiles and will start to encourage drivers to stop and make the call and switch off their phones whilst driving and have a message saying “I am driving - please leave a message”. So they don’t get landed with a corporate manslaughter claim if the unspeakable happens :exclamation:

Also if an amateur “truckspotter” can take a picture, just think how easy it is for the “professional” law enforcement agencies and “big brother” to do the same. As for the guy smoking and using the phone, well you just can’t help some people can you

The Police could also see them driving like that and take an action. Who’s fault is that? The photographer? Or the guys who drive and using their mobile phones?

I can assure you that no matter how hard he would try, he would not be able to post picture of me speaking on the phone whilst driving at any forum. Simply because i do not do that.

you knew this before you posted the pictures. This is of course why you are a grass and a prat for not realising what effect your actions could have.

Few weeks ago I spotted a car slaloming over the whole road, then accelerating, then braking harshly, than going over the red light. I called the Police and I told them about that, as I suspected he might be drunk. Am I grass and prat? Or I simply did my part of the job for everyone’s safety?

In place I work for agency there was a driver who had a bump two days in a row, on both occassions he was speaking on mobile phone. I don’t know why they did not sacked him at the first moment, but at the second day he hit a bollard so harshly, that the pump was broken (you know, that one on the left in Renault Premium) and the vehicle had to be towed away…
Last friday I saw him reversing in the yard, he almost smashed the other lorry’s mirrors and had problems to get the lorry on the scale… I told to his van boy “You will have an interesting day” and I was right :frowning:

They now banned him from working there and now I have agency begging me to go more to that place. But it’s a really hard job, lot of handball and I am trying to avoid going there as much as possible…

Anyway, I told them about the tacho chart in CD player and this driver and asked if they don’t think that I am worth more per hour than this muppets… They said they have to speak with the boss about it, so keep your fingers crossed.

But this shows the British saying I really like: if you pay peanuts, you got monkeys

Oh my word!
Britain has got totally hysterical as usual.
When i was there mobile phones were totally legal and i really don’t remember anyone i knew or worked with having a crash directly caused by taking a phone call. I am not so naive as to say that it never happened but it certainly wasn’t the top priority of road safety issues that needed addressing.
My driving career was 15 years in the UK and for nearly all of it there was cab phones. In the begining they were bolted onto the dash board and you were expected to take a call and write down backload details at the same time while moving! That was probably a bit dodgy to be fair but in the time since touching the handset has been banned, then seriously enforced, then become socially unacceptable and now the practice of saying hello to the wife while at work has been elevated to the same criminal status as drink driving, drug dealing and blagging banks!
There is even fellow citizens standing on bridges armed with cameras taking pictures of perpetrators and loading them onto websites.
Unbelievable!
Just for the record it is still legal here in nearly every Province and just about every US State. Everyone manages OK without crashing into anything and remember, the speed limits are usually 65-70 mph for trucks so in a way you could say it was more risky but as i say, it is not really an issue because it just doesn’t cause problems.

nickyboy:
Have to say after my few days out taking pics on the A34 i am quite surprised by the amount of truck drivers on their phones or doing other stuff.

nickyboy:

9/1500? I’d be more surprised by how many AREN’T up to something. How do those figures justify the police using a lorry?

EXIF

Can you see the bike?

Can you see the dead rider?

Can you see the dead passenger

Can you see the dead driver who was texting on her new mobile as she pulled out of a road junction.

When the emergency services arrived, all three bodies had to be recovered from inside the VW

Deleted, didn’t see above post before I posted mine which wouldve looked very distasteful
