Theory and HP in the morning

good luck for ya hp on tuesday tarman, :grimacing: weeman

Thanks :grimacing: Got it before work tomorrow so might not be able to update straight away. I’m consistently passing mock tests at home, just passed another 2 within the last hour. I’m praying that I don’t mess up again. I put my fail first time down to tiredness (was at 8am) and being too cocky and being easilly distracted. All will be revealed tomorrow…

Simple bit of advice for hazard perception. It’s the same standard of test for ALL classes - from the 16 year old on a moped to someone with 30 years driving experience going for LGV or PCV. Each defined hazard has a “window of opportunity” during which your score will register. This is with the highest score of 5 being at the start of the “window” reducing to 1 towards the close of the “window”. Experienced drivers fail this test because they see the hazards too soon and click before the “window” has opened - thus the zero score we often hear about.

The secret is to click when you recognise the hazard, count to 2, then click again. The highest score will register and you cannot be peanalised for this method of clicking. It’s quite possible that the first click will be too early - but the second click will catch the score.

Trust me, it works.

Best of luck tomorrow, Pete

Cheers matey, I’ve been doing this method on all my practice tests, clicking 2 or 3 times over a 3-5 seconds. However on my practice tests I always skip the introduction, on the real test you can’t, it then goes on to tell you to “carry on clicking for each hazard you see”. I think this may of thrown me out somewhat.

my concern is being pulled up for cheating if I click a few times every time I see what I think might be a potential hazard. I hope that as long as I’m not clicking like a maniac and at regular intervals that won’t be a problem! Good luck with your retest!

You would have to be over clicking a hell of a lot to score zero for cheating.

You are over thinking this and making it harder on yourself.

Just click once when you first see it and again for good measure to make sure at least one click gets in the scoring zone.

I really wish they would develop a more realistic way of measuring hazard perception or maybe even scrap it for long term B licence holders.

I am only posting on this thread because I also recently failed my Hazard Perception test.

I will start by saying that today I finished my DSA trainer tests but on 14/07/12 I decided to re-qualify, having let it go for a few years. The 1st part is the theory /hazard test. 96/100 on the trainer MC questions but only 53/75 on the hazard when the pass mark is 57. How could it happen after 30 years training people.

The truth, I didn’t bother revising the basics. We all think we are great drivers but sometimes it is important to take a step backwards. Earlier in July I had a few 1st time passes and thought “bring it on, no way I will fail the little boy test” But I did.

Trust me on 28/09/12 I wasn’t about to make the same mistake. Nobody has ever studied more HP clips than me. And it was worth it with over 70 from 75.

I preach to every candidate You only get out what you put in, yet I didn’t put it in.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. Study hard then study harder.

Good luck to all guys with theory coming up.

I guess mine must have been a bit of luck and the rest was pure genius then John.

1st time pass on HPT for cat C and cat D.

And no revision was done

I too passed it first time for Cat B years ago. Should just be one test for all categories.

Well I had another re-test today for the Hazard Perception. On my first go I got 50 marks, on my second go I got 60 marks, and on my third go I got 72 :grimacing:

Well chuffed! Funny thing is though, for the first 2 I revised quite alot and got no-where but for this go I didn’t revise at all and passed? Being my third time I did get quite a few clips which I had seen before so that really did help as I knew where the hazard was so could get the timing just right with a few clicks. Anyone know how long it takes for the certificate to come through the post?

Next step is to phone the trainer tomorrow and get my lessons booked. Probably looking at rolling over into December maybe January depending on availability for test dates :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I also have the CPC case studies in just over a week aswell.

Finally feel like i’m getting somewhere

Congratulations,  TARMAN next step the driver training…
Started mine today its well good a wee bit nervus but taking me time test friday, :grimacing: :grimacing:
well done again mate 3rd time lucky,
cheers Weeman

Well done

I passed my theory 1st time as well as HPT ( only ever done 1 that was for cat C )

Well done mate - I got my HPT first thing on Thursday, a bit nervous about it but just going to go in there and try to relax and not to think of it as a “fastest finger first” game!

Thing is though, I was more nervous 3rd time round than I was with the other times. I think its good to be a little nervous as it keeps you alert and makes you perform better :grimacing:

Also, this time round I was wearing me glasses as opposed to contact lenses. Although my eyesight is good with both (obviously) I found that with glasses it was easier to relax when watching the monitor close up.

Well done on your hpt test  good to see you finaly got it

Thanks

Well done. Got the result in the end.

Certificate usually takes about 4-5 days. Keep the 2 pass sheets from HPT and MC to prove your pass in case certificate takes longer.

Yeah got there in the end.

Got my training provisionally booked too :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Spoke with the trainer and he’s booked me in for the end of the month, 4 day course 4 hours a day from 8am-12pm, 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th with the test on the 29th.

getting a bit excited now lol. I need to pop down and settle the balance and get some more in depth details. I really didn’t think I would get it this soon or in one block. I originally planned to have the final payment for the end of november then the test in december but good friends have lent me the money to do it sooner.

Well chuffed :grimacing: Next step, Module 2 CPC in about a week.
