The value of internal straps

Not the first time for them. Driver dumped the truck and [zb] off home with his mate. Those of you that remember this will see the irony in where he dumped it.

I remember seeing that when I was heading to South Wales. Was it last year? Why did the driver just dump the truck and ■■■■ off?

Well it seems someone should be contacting glory boy to find out how to avoid this sort of incident happening again.
Hes sat a one hour test and is now fully qualified and expert enough to be allowed out on his own so this would never happen to him. He knows everything about loading correctly and driving fully frieghted you see. The government said so

Two and a half years ago now. I never found out why he did what he did. I can only assume he just panicked. He may have been on some sort of warning and jumped before he was pushed. The human mind does strange things in times of stress.

If you read the dvsa and fta paperwork.
A curtain sider vehicle is to be classed as a flat bed with weather protect only.
So anything in them should be strapped to the deck of the trailer with the correct straps or approved ratchet nets like xpo use on paint carrying vehicles.

Had this argument with an idiot manager at norbert dressing table.
He didnt have the man beads to say if vosa stop you will you cough up answer would be know.

When I briefly worked at Norbert (in Hounslow) they were the most fastidious about health and safety of any company I’ve worked for - no climbing up sides, only stepladders, and there were horizontal straps inside the curtains, with hooks, to attach straps to, to restrain the loads. (This was for rigids used for local deliveries, which were often cages containing car parts.) Very odd to hear of a Norbert manager having this attitude.

The power of straps indeed. I imagine the left hand turn in this wagon happens VERY slowly!

I’d never use them alone…but…

I regularly use them crossed to box in really light stuff, then give friction restraint with a ratchet strap. I’ve found this helps with a certain load I carry - relatively light, is slightly smaller than the pallet it sits on, which means if it’s not boxed, it can sway like jelly…

But yeah, useless for heavy stuff!

Glass out of xpo is only secured with internals.
Although some loads have one or two ratchets across the back aswell.
And they do go over
