The trusty dogclip

walterfirelake:
Wingnut I simply defy you or any driver to declare they have checked their fithwheel coupling every time they return to their truck, putting sabotage of the coupling ‘‘out of reach’’ of the [zb] that would do such hidiously lethal acts cant be such a bads thing, by the way my first 5 years in industry was at hawker siddeley aviation, not as apprentice hgv fitter, but as airframe/flight control fitter, so maybe this backward engineered transport industry needs to come ‘‘forward’’ a little,I’ve done as much shunting in ‘‘road’’ tractors as ‘‘tugs’’ and have never employed a dogclip shunting, ever. I dont think anyone reading here needs to be told a dogclip doesnt hold a trailer on.

Walter

Before you post a general comment like that, you really need to start reading the forum from the very beginning before commenting.

There are questions on here that three year olds can answer, yet they still get asked quite regularly. Obviously you as a posh engineer would know the answer immediately.

How do drivers know the height of a trailer?

How do I know how high a bridge is?

Can I go under a 14’ 6’’ bridge with a 14’ 6’’ trailer?

These are very recent questions, so don’t presume my answer was not necessary

Ha ha classic, not been here long then fella

I’ll be the first to admit that what I know is closer to nothing than it is to everything, but coming on here is getting me there :grimacing:

Just thought of a great idea!!

Next driver that ■■■■■■ me off , I won’t pull the pin … I will lock it !!!

these dogclip incidents make a good case for updating c&u regs to making air jaws compolsory, never dropped a trailer whilst shunting, still I’ve only shunted them for 30 years so theres time yet?

Definetly no. If I jump out and push a bar across I know its in place, I do not trust the truck to do it by itself.

Same as Air tailgates on tippers. Hate them!
