The reason Ian passed this test was nothing to do with me. It was because he drove well

To anyone thinking of getting this licence beware.

This game is full of people just waiting to take your money. People who dont care about your test result, Dont waste your money.

A few people like Peter Smythe and Sean and perhaps others are the sort of guys you should listen to. Never buy from a broker I repeat NEVER BUY FROM A BROKER.

Not always been good but always a friend to this site

Flair Training

C’mon Lightwater, you surely didn’t keep a straight face when typing that lot out?

Coffeeholic

Please put me out of my misery about this Lightwater thing.

I have found a place called Lightwater in Surrey but it can’t be that because I have never been there or even passed through it (to my knowledge)

Is Lightwater a Place, person or Nickname (or something else)

John
Flair Training

Or someone who makes false claims in advertising such as “Branches Nationwide” when they have only one vehicle and presumably one office

C’mon. Isn’t it time to put a stop to the sniping. I don’t know John, never met him. But he’s done a good thing for Ian and given him a chance that he may not otherwise have had. Yes, John’s had publicity out of it (far from positive in many cases) and he’s explained why the truck says “Branches Nationwide”. There’s one running round Sheffield with Michelin written all over it but it’s simply because the new owner hasn’t removed the old lettering. I think that’s a mistake but that’s just my opinion.

I really enjoy a lively discussion on the forum but I think it’s now time to put the “let’s crucify John at Flair Training” campaign to rest.

Well done Ian and thanks to John for helping the guy achieve his dream.

But then of course in both of those cases there is no deliberate misrepresentation of the true facts in order to promote a business as something it’s not … is there

Hi tachograph,

Whilst that’s perfectly true, what (if any) misrepresentation is there in this case?

http://www.flairtraining.co.uk/index.html

Because of the HQ location and the second location much nearer to the M25, the training locations page seems to make good business sense to me, but I’m not seeing any misrepresentation such as “nationwide offices and training” or other ‘broker’ type untruths:

http://www.flairtraining.co.uk/flairlocations.htm

I’ll happily stand to be corrected though…

Gety off your high horse Dave and read the [zb]ing post before commenting.

I don’t remember saying there’s any misrepresentation on the website so perhaps you could point me in the direction of where I have said it :unamused:

Are you saying that the words “Branches Nationwide” on the training vehicle is not an attempt to promote a business as something it’s not ?

Here’s the full quote of what the comment was about, try to notice if you can that there is no mention of the website made until you decided to post not one but two links to it :unamused:

That’s a fair point, but you’ll have to concede that I didn’t say that you did either.

I simply gave you the links to see for yourself, if you wished to do so.

Another fair point, my answer is that I’ve no idea of whether it’s there to mislead anybody. I’d agree that it’s probably unfortunate for John that he didn’t get that removed/covered when he had the opportunity, because that could be taken as misleading, but are you suggesting that it’s conclusive proof of an intention to mislead?

tachograph:

Agreed, but I hope I’ve explained that above.

Unfortunatly John has been involved in companies that have shattered the dreams of many more and left them in financial turmoil so does this one publicity stunt mean that this should all be forgotten. Evan this stunt shows that you have to have serious doubts over whether you believe a word that is said or advertised.

I think the sole purpose of this thread and “Never done this before” was designed to mislead, in fact the only reason this thread was started over the original was that it was, dare I say, MISLEADING.

I am pleased there are other, more upfront, and open training schools out there. and they are not in the South

Look at the other thread “Probably not been done before” and you will see that the words on the Training vehicle is not the only thing about John Flair that’s misleading, indeed why was this thread started by LGVTrainer if not to take attention away from the other thread where he was getting criticism for … being misleading.

Hi tachograph,

I’ve looked again at the other thread, and on Feb 7th I wrote this: (aimed at John.)

dieseldave:
Could you please explain the apparent unfairness to those who would have PMed you but (from your OP) thought that they were excluded?

:bulb: We never saw a good answer to that question, except for a rather half-hearted ‘I only got a couple of replies’ or similar words.

I’ve no idea of whether there was any intention to mislead, now or then, but what I can say for a fact is that the goalposts got moved onto a completely different football pitch without any explanation or warning.
:bulb: IMHO, a post saying that the criteria were being changed would have been helpful and much fairer.

I am critical of John, but my criticism is aimed squarely at the unfairness and lack of transparency of the selection process that John used.
IMHO, there can’t be much doubt that the fairness of that process leaves a lot to be desired.

dieseldave:

I agree with that from what has been written on the site

IMO - the free offer was to take someone with a passion for wanting ro drive LGVs from being a post 97 car driver aged at least 18 years old to the point where they passed the CE test and for that person to blog about it on an open forum

For whatever reason(s) the reality is that only the CE part has been given

I would have been more impressed if the Medical to C pass including the initial dcpc bit had been offered for free as a seperate part

OK, that would have meant two different trainees, but that would have given two different opinions on the company which, if the company was that confident, would have doubled the good will and advertising impact without having to offer more than was intended originally

I applaud John for offering this in the first place but from my perspective it seems like only half an offer has been given which makes me think that perhaps it turned into a case of … I’ll offer this and then see what I can get away with … as there has not been any sign of the other part of the offer being fulfilled

That’s the way I see it at the moment but reserve the right to change my mind should the other part of the offer be given as intended

I understand all the above and sympathise with all who lost money. But John has, on this occasion, done a good thing. Whether or not this is enough to help folk forget, I have no idea but I doubt it. It is human nature to remember the bad stuff in life. My attitude to everything is very much to forgive (so far as possible) and move on. I speak as someone who lost £80k overnight, the house, the office and a couple of trucks back in the early eighties. So I have “been there and done it”. Remembering the bad stuff just grinds you down. It’s a lot more healthy, IMO, to try to move on as soon as you possibly can.

I repeat, I don’t know John, never met him. I just wish we could all move on now.

Have a great week everybody
