As for the reversing, i feel quite confident as i grew up on a farm, i was reversing tractors and trailers since i was about 8 so it should be a breezeJust as well you were at the beginning of your learning journey then eh?
Lucky strike for Flair or what?
Oh, and good luck
It gets funnier this thread, the lad has an inky C licence and experience of driving tractors and trailers for over 10 years. I do hope he passes on Friday.
Any sign of a charitable donation yet for the initial training and cat C part?
Have asked this several times but yet to have an answer

To those mentioned below and anyone else that cares enoughAs The course is finally about to get underway :-
Coffeeholic:
I understand LGVTrainerâs location is in Essex but the more of his posts that I read the more I am convinced he is actually in Lightwater.Where is Lightwater and why do you think Iâm there. Trust me Chelmsford is my place
To Animal: For the sake of clarity please ask the specific question again and I will reply. Sorry I didnât reply to your satisfaction previously.
To Wheelnut: Iâm sure if we had met you would mention it, unless of course you actually liked me at the time
To Almose-truckin: Millions? LOL I run one truck and teach on it myself. Please donât believe everything because itâs in print. PS. Thanks for noticing the help I try to provide to all board members. You are one of the first to mention that.
To 44 Tonne Ton: Please be specific about my track record. Donât quote the Daily Mirror. Quote your in depth personal knowledge. If you want I will yet again describe my track record.
Finally: To everyone that wishes Rubberducky good luck I will not let you or him down. I canât guarantee a pass but I can guarantee he will be ready for it.
PPS: This site has a thread where people recommend trainers.Despite members having passed with us and telling the board, we donât yet make the list. Perhaps I should have asked these people to join the board. flairtraining.co.uk/studentgallery.htm

Rubberducky, decent reverse, that was good positioning against the wall

That might just get added to the LGV TRAINING TIPS thread in the future - thanks

good luck with the test tomorrow Ian
To clear up the great âBranches Nationwideâ mystery.
As many will know the vehicle and trailer were purchased from Sterling (who were Nationwide) in Oct 09 some 3 months before their demise. Most of the signwriting was already on there and to keep costs down we only changed the Phone number and the writing on the front.
I personally would have put LGV and not HGV but just the bits we changed cost over ÂŁ300.
We do not try to pretend on our website or anywhere else that we operate from anywhere other than Essex. We do occasionally run courses directly from Purfleet in Essex as well as Chelmsford.

Good luck for tomorrow mate

Here is a video of me doing the reverse, it wasnt perfect but good enough
Just hope you were checking the nearside mirror when we couldnât see you then!
âBranches Nationwideâ
Maybe inherited from previous operator - for all the world it looks like an ex-Sterling vehicle to me. Crap position for coupling - thus clobbering the curb. Great fun scambling about to couple stuff up.
Good luck for the test. Pete

Funny enough i was going to mention about that nearside mirror too, everytime it focused on him he was looking only in drivers mirror, im sure he was checking it but you never know. and ofcourse you can fail on that for lack of observation!!
Anyway goodluck mate for tomorrow

Another cheapo training company that uses 7.5 tonners for the C+E. This practice should be banned imo as it provides absolutely zero real life experience for the real thing.

it doesnât seem right that the minimum spec vehicle can be so much smaller than a real life truck
W&D Spec is 4.75 metres shorter than maximum and only needs to weigh 20t !
Maybe if trainees did their tests in real sized vehicles they would find employers accepted newbies easier

Iâve instructed on both for about 12 months on each and agree that the DSA should not only increase the minimum size spec but also have the vehicles loaded to half of their load weight capacity - many examiners have also expressed the same opinion.
Sorry for going off topic

I too use a wagon and drag for training - the fiqures you quote although correct may be misunderstood
For test purposes
Min length of w&d or artic for test is 14m both plated at min 20 tonnes
max length for artic is 16.5m
max length for w&d is 18.75m
I do agree that some trainers use these regs to their advantage - but the rules are there and as long as it makes the grade then the DSA will accept it on test, I do know that some examiners think itâs wrong also.
Just to clarify my vehicles are all 18 tonne daf cfs and the combined length with trailer is 18.7m
