As for the subject of dodgy reversing areas, it doesnt matter about the potholes and stuff, as log as the measurements are correct, its fine. If you can train someone to do it on rough ground it will only make it easier come test time in my opinion. The area I used to use when I was instructing was near Stafford and was like a battlefield, as Im sure if anyone else on here as used it they will agree, but I never had anyone with any complaints.
One of the biggest training companies in Stoke on Trent uses there own reversing area, and its uphill, and there trainees are ok with that.
I passed with coat’s . A very proffessional outfit . I thoght you already might of tried them for work Rog thats why I didnt mention them before. They use Crick fror reversing , its massive area also used ny the bus company as well. Every cafe in Leicester will be visited , and the Sizzling Sausage in Northampton as well.

Well, where do I start?
I have 8 months with not a sniff of work and then get offered temp ad-hoc instructor work for the biggest trainer in my area — Great!!
I get a full weeks work for this week starting at 7 am today.
Then what happens? — I get a stomach bug that lasts all night so I don’t get to sleep till gone 4am!!!
Needless to say, that I was not fit to ride a bicycle, let alone a car at 6am this morning so had to call in sick — ON MY FIRST DAY !!!
Got some ZZZZZZZZZZs in till about 10 am then called in again with a second apology and asked if the 2 trainees had been sorted — my thought was that if not, they might want me straight in and extend the training day for today and tomorrow but it seems that things were sorted for them — GOOD.
I REALLY hate letting people down like this and feel crap about being the cause of this situation.
Well I am now awaiting a call from the boss, which I fully expect to be bad news.
When I was at coates on Agency they found me the job I am at now , I went to work next day after my interview and told the boss the wife was pregnant and he would be in a around 6 weeks , I was on my first day when the Wife called , Im at hospital , am having the baby … How long will you be? , I was in Worksop , I got there in a few hours and the boss was ok he gave me the next 3 days off and then I took a week . I felt terrible letting him down because he had hired me because his regular driver had left suddenly. I think J coates should be ok , Better you let them know than drive un safe. Good luck and remember, sometimes “Stuff” happens.
Well, day 1 went off without any probs for the most part
C+E artic 5th retest at noon @ Leicester test station.
Start 7am plenty of breaks including a full breakfast at Morrisons because he insisted
Went to reverse area - 2 perfect reverses & un/couple.
Road drive - excellent forward planning, relaxed drive, tight turns, rural, urban, motorway - the works - all fantastic.
So he makes a snake look straight on the reverse but just manages to do it with 2 wiggly shunts and the report that came back on the debrief from the examiner made me think that he had swapped places with his numpty twin brother - result 2 serious and a host of minors.
I reckon it was test nerves but he said not - hmmmm…
I feel for your trainee , I was as nervous as hell on my test. I bet it is a mental thing and after so many what a monkey to shake off !! . So how do you look in your Coates Tie then ? very smart i bet. I am glad for you Roger you always gave me good advice and its nice to see a leicester lad doing well on here .
