Yeah, after collapse of Soviet Union, not much happened to Kamaz developement.

Tatra also barely survived system transformation, many other Eastern European competitors went bust - there is no more Jelcz trucks, Star last time when I checked was just the assembly plant for outdated MAN lorries, Skoda don’t do trucks anymore…

But also Dakar rally is no longer what it used to be…

Yet, I am in Wrocław now, there is plenty of road construction going on and amount of old Kamaz tippers driving arround of town is enourmous. I think I might do some pics for you if you (plural you - as a forum members) are interested.

At least they could’nt say that you could double the value of a Tatra by filling it with a tank full of diesel   .But it would have gone a lot faster if they’d ditched the tractor engine for that Detroit  .And wheelnut that old ‘puffin billy’ seemed to be doing a good enough job there and as anyone knows if a Detroit two stroke is smoking as bad as a four stroke then it’s not running right. But that win counted for more than the Dakar that it ‘used to be’ because Paris to Cape Town is about as far as it ever went.

Yeah, there are much too big tanks in Tatras… You would have just to add a quarter or something for that effect
