Agreed.
The buildings are not the car park area, decor, or (lack of) maintenance. Too many new buildings are chain-owned and similar designs, with no local references or individuality. I know chains want their clients to see something familiar, but identical town/city centres, and MSAs, etc are plain boring.

The old Burtonwood services, east bound has gone now but west bound is still there, looks like the bloody top of an onion, where on Earth they got that design from lord knows big thankfully there’s only one left
