The keep her choppin' thread

The title of this thread is a bit misleading CHOPPIN sounds as though you were chopping wood.
The usual wording is KEEP HER CHAPPIN as in you are hearing her knocking. Eddie.

Nope. Chappin’ is the NI pronunciation of choppin’ as in chopping along.

Not surprising really seeing how far you scots have got your head up Irelands arse…

I am at a loss to understand your comments on Scotland and Ireland as I was simply quoting our local accent which had nothing what so ever to do with Ireland. Eddie.

Why is it that you cant even quote a local saying without somebody coming on here and trying to be smart about it. As far as I can see all erfguy said was the similarity between both Scottish and Irish sayings and Saaamon comes along and well we can all read what he said. Agree totally with you erfguy I am at a loss to understand his childish comments.

What’s with all the pseudo Irish sayings anyway? Craic and all that stuff? I never have the craic, I just have a laugh myself.

It’s basically like Cockney rhyming slang but an Irish version if that makes sense
