Just to confirm what Rog said earlier in the thread. you can enter for either Cat C or Cat C+E. Each person can only have 1 single course.
The Cat C will be 4 days and a test and the Cat C+E will be 2 days and a test which is what the vast majority of our C+E courses are (as can be seen on the Student Role of Honour page on our website.)

So you have to write an essay to have a chance
What happens if you not very good at doing them
Not an essay but just a reason why you should be picked in more than 200 words
By the time you’ve written about yourself, background and current situation then that will easily be over 200 IMO and a follow on from that with why you want it as well as your plans for the future … gotta be easily 400+

Yep but I have troube writing 20 never mind 200
Just copy and paste the same thing a couple of times.

I’d give it a shot but I won’t have passed my test until late January so couldn’t start training until beginning to mid February. Ah well always next year if i’ve not already done my training by then
Cheers
Jonny
If your car test get passed late jan and you are 18 in feb then why not apply for it - John has not said WHEN the training will take place - just that this is a XMAS offer

It sounds like a great offer for Christmas and I would suggest not spoiling your chances on here by worrying about the distance, cost, dates or email addresses. You can get a perfectly good gmail address for nothing. I have about 8 on the go
I imagine John, Ian and Dan would prefer it if you used a spell-checker and not used text speak.
If I was eligible than I think I would write it out using Word or Works, and posting a paper copy to John rather than a private message.

To have a chance of a free course you will need to write and send to us by email a reason why you think you deserve the chance.
Not sure about the “posting a paper copy” bit
Good luck to anyone who enters
Sorry The bit about email was missed. I did read that John was going to email the letters to Ian and Dan. My main concern was that we would have Boss&Driver, Andrejs, and their mates using their inimitable brand of communication and making a mockery of someone who had sat down, thought about and wrote what is really a job application.
jonnytruckfest:
so do we send the email to the actual training company or via pm? Don’t want to send an email for someone to reply ‘what the [zb] are you on about’

You cannot send an email by pm.
I thought I’d ask. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, although I’m awfully close to finding one that is
Pretty good response so far. Some great stories although of course I won’t be selecting the 3 people.
I have had 2 or 3 emails asking why and how we do this each year. Simple really. Why not? We stay fairly busy all year. We only have 1 truck although we keep a couple of trainers active training on companies own vehicles. We just got got JAUPT CPC approval so that is something new.
Also after 30 years as a trainer I do know that sometimes it feels good to put something back. Getting a guy/girl through the test is not that difficult but to that person it is life changing.
Not always been a saint but at this time of year it just feels right to help.
If I won the lottery I would open a free LGV training centre
