The easiest week in a truck ever!

Well that is definitely the easiest week I’ve ever done in a truck. Can’t imagine it getting much easier.

Monday:
Started at 7am, collected trailer from Immingham and drive to Oban 372 miles / 7h 55m drive time.

Tuesday:
Oban to Barcaldine (15 miles) to drop trailer with a mining company for 07:00. They then took the trailer across the water with the intention of me collecting it at 18:00.
I drove back to Oban and went sight seeing for the day.
16:00hrs: got a call from the mine to say the trailer wasn’t on the boat, they were planning on returning it on Wednesday.

Wednesday:
Still in Oban, 11am, I got a call to say the trailer wasn’t going to be back today and more than likely it’ll be Friday. Batteries on the truck were running low so re-located 40 miles north to Fort William.
Got a call at 16:00 to say the trailer would be returned at 14:00 tomorrow (thursday)

Thursday:
Collected trailer at 14:00 and drove to Lesmahagow

Friday:
Lesmahagow to Seaham, collection then to Immingham and that was it.

Happy days, easy week

Happy days, easy week

I had one similar a few week ago when I was delivering shop fittings to a CoOp on the Isle of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides from Barnsley.
Sunday start at 6am and drove up to Newtonmore Grill just off the A9 me done for the day.
Monday travel from Newtonmore up to Armadale on the Isle Of Skye to get a 30min ferry over to Mallaig then from Mallaig get a 3 hour 30min crossing over to Loch Boisdale. Dock at 21:00 then parked up at the harbour for the night.
Tuesday drove 3 Miles to the CoOp, tipped out 21 pallets on the tail lift about 2 hours work then told they didn’t need me then until tomorrow so went and dropped the trailer at the harbour, had a shower then drove down to Eriskay to the beach for a few hour.
Wednesday back down to CoOp to pick up 7 pallets of returns then back to the harbour, went for a walk then to the hotel bar at the harbour for a couple of pints and a meal.
Thursday get the ferry back to Malaig and Armadale and make my way back down to Barnsley for dinner time Friday. Got paid 10 hours each day I did a couple of hours work and got the chance to see some of the most stunning scenery our country has to offer both on the Outer Hebrides and North West Scotland. Loved every minute of the week.
Back to earth with a bump the following week with a run to Kent and having to contend with the M1 and M25, oh well you can’t win them all

I got lucky weather wise. Monday through to Wednesday was hitting 25-27deg clear skys. As others have said though the midges were a right ■■■■■■■

I’m up up to Fort William on Mon/Tues hope this sunny weather holds.
