That’s what differentiated the manual option from the auto at the time.
Always wondered what the difference was
Tarrman:
I wonder how many chargers they went through? Some of them must of really hurt aswell, some big air in some!youtube.com/watch?v=gzkugMVU … ata_player
Love it!
In the first series, 3 1969 chargers. When they started showing signs of wear, they bought a 68 charger, trimmed it to 69 spec.
The second series, they hired the cars. $200 per car per episode. $3000 if the car was destroyed. No one knows how many were used within this period. However, the company responsible was forging VIN plates and charging for cars written off that wasn’t.
Then they moved in in house with Warner Brothers, with Radio controlled models being used for the bigger jumps.
In the film, they used 24 1968-70 Chargers in total.
There is a car museum in Keswick with most of these cars there.
Oh hang on, it closed last year. visitcumbria.com/kes/cars-of-the-stars.htm

The Daytona was manufactured by a replica company named Mcburnie, They were sued by Enzo Ferrari himself for infringeing his copyrights and misrepresentation ,they were even badged up as Ferrari’s, but were infact corvette chassis’s and running gear with a fibreglass replica Ferrari body on top, these were V8’s the real Daytona’s are V12’s . To make a menz, the production team destroyed the fake Daytona in one of the episodes and in return Ferrari returned the favour by providing free of charge a white and a black Testarossa, the latter car was used in a later episode as a villains car, but could be resprayed if anything untoward happened to the white one. The car was specced in white because the production team felt the black fake Daytona did not stand out enough during the night shoot car chases.

No, I am not. The look of it is very unusual, I know, and it’s a matter of your personal taste. But as for the car itself… Well…
Better now?
2,5l air cooled V8 on the back… RWD, up to 160 horsepower…
And as for the comfort - Tatra was supposed to be a Rolls Royce for the Eastern Bloc VIPs… That should say everything
I had a pleasure to drive the newer version of this toy, a 613:
but with 3.5l engine, and it drives like a Porsche… Or rather I should say “Porsche drives like this” because it was mr Porsche who stole that idea from Tatra… When Mr Funny Moustache gave him a documentation of this car:
and asked him to build “something like that” which resulted in this car we all know very well:
In 1961 Volkswagen paid Tatra 3 000 000 DM in out of court setlement for stealing their ideas.
Tatra is relatively not known on the West, but before the war it was one of the most technically advanced car manufacturer in the world and it’s shame that it’s heritage is not widely known - it’s one of the oldest car manufacturers in the world and second oldest truck manufacturer…
Here you can see some of its heritage: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=89131&p=1259379&hilit=Koprivnice#p1259368 I’ve been to Tatra museum this summer, and it’s simply stunning.
Sadly, the 603 and later 613 that came up in 1970s was the last really new invention when it comes to cars - over next years they were simply upgading it a bit and giving it a few face lifts, and therefore when Czech Republic broke from communism they could not compete with their western competitors selling petrol-guzzling 25 years old construction. That led to the closure of the car branch of Tatra, which is the shame, as they had some interesting prototypes, for example Tatra MTX:
They still do very good and reliable trucks, mostly for off road and military use.
no one wants the Trotters Independant Traders van?
face mans white corvette was nice. or KITT from knight rider
shame they are american cars though so it would have to be the R34 GTR or EVO from fast and furious 2
Orys…you’re insane
I can just imagine Reagan and Co turning up to a job in that tatra…

That’s why I love Tatra cars - they are so much different from everything else, and yet drive very well
In no particular order:
-The ambulance out of the first canonball run.
-Eleanor
-Christine
-Delorean out of Back to the Future
-The Volvo F10s in the film “Killing Machine” starring Lee Van Cleef.
-Gene Hunts Audi
-The RS6 estate out of Layer Cake
Just a few off the top of my head!

In the first picture , originally Dennis Waterman was going to have the RS ■■■■■■ in the background but it was deemed too flash for his character so he got the Capri II.
NHK295M the Consul GT in the Sweeney is undergoing a very log resto back to former glory. Google the reg no, then check out Mr Shifters thread on the Sweeny forum.
Why hasnt anyone mentioned the black V8 Interceptor in Mad max 1 ? ( Actually a Ford Falcon GT)
