It all depends on which side you’re looking at it from.Basically when the Arabs aren’t all united in wanting to massacre every Israeli the zb’s are busy massacring each other. You can’t blame the IDF and Israeli government for doing whatever it takes to avoid the former by ( rightly ) not giving a zb about the latter.

You’re correct, it’s not like those lovely Jewish people have ever done anything to anyone is it.That’ll be those that took over Palestinian lands, The same ones that killed British peacekeepers as a pastime in the 1950’s.
Nice people that re wrote history to suit themselves.Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt are currently unavailable for comment at this time!!
You don’t have to go that far back. Bush & bliar are hardly angels are they. Isnt it odd that our, or American leaders, never speak out against anything the Jewish nation do.
When it comes to people suiting themselves hypocricy doesn’t get much more hypocritical than those who support the Arab/Asian cause against Israel while at the same time playing the race card in respect of Asian immigration not being accepted here.
The main reason Israel exists is that the USA has and will back it no matter what they do.

My post was merely an expression of a personal feeling of repugnance at the cowardice of cynically murdering civilian non-combatants. Arafat and his fighters were the legitimate targets - not the vulnerable innocents left without protection after the withdrawal of the PLO. I agree with your comments DMD, but fail to see how you could construe my words as those of a self-appointed moral guardian. As for your closing words, I think youve rather over-expanded the original subject. Let us not forget also that the state of Israel is heavily underpinned/influenced by the good ol
US of A, and they also share the burden of blame for the cold-blooded massacre that took place.
I share your repugnance regarding civilians but has there ever been a war that where civilians weren’t targeted at some point? It’s a dirty business. Are you really trying to say Sharon was more cynical than Arafat? Personally, I doubt you could get a ■■■ paper between them. The Sabra/Shatila massacre was preceded by the 1976 Damour massacre, perpetrated by Palestinians which was preceded by an earlier massacre by the Phalangists etc, etc, ad infinitum. This goes back a long time so I don’t believe finger pointing can contribute anything to this debate nor aid the afflicted peoples in living together peacefully. Rather than people taking sides which i can’t for the life of me understand given the long term history of this conflict, why not get in the middle and try to mediate rather than drive one side or the other to their psychological bunkers?

Sorry laddie you’re going to have to do better than that!
& the Arab & the Jew did step forth unto God & ask of God
“When will there be peace between our people?”
& God did reply “not in my ■■■■■■■ lifetime”.
here endeth the first lesson.

As in most inter ethnic and tribal issues the idea of peacemaking and trying to bring the different factions together costs more lives in the long term than concentrating on keeping different people seperate in their own place. In the case of the Arabs that’s probably an impossible job so it’s best to let them get on with it.While in the case of Israel history shows that whatever it takes to protect their own people from their hostile neighbours is justified and is working.Israel certainly isn’t the problem in the region except for those with obviously selective reverse racist views.

You obviously know a lot about this subject, so I’m hoping that you can shed your bright light on something that has always puzzled me . . .
Why has every society, every country where they’ve settled, throughout all of time, hated the Jew ?

Once again DMD, I agree with you that no-one in this theatre has the moral high ground. Ongoing ■■■-for-tat murders and pogroms from way back in time are reverberating as strongly throughout the region as ever, and I am equally scathing about the reprehensible actions of Arafat, Jumblatt and scores of other warlords. Tragically, the “eye for an eye” strategy is a frailty favoured by many, and it is painfully difficult to envisage when the hatred and animosities can possibly subside long enough for a meaningful solution to be implemented.
My OP was a warts-and-all epitaph to illustrate that he cannot in all honesty be deemed a noble statesman - he wasn`t nicknamed “The Bulldozer” for nothing!!

A noble statesman is a very rare thing! Mankind has a long way to go, with, I suspect, very little time to get there…
The guy was a schmuck.

Don’t ask me I haven’t got a clue and contrary to what many people say about my views on ethnic integration that’s how I know that I’m not a racist.

Jealousy. They know we’re smarter, better, tougher and richer than they are. (Tongue in cheek, I’m not Jewish, but my great grandmother was)
Israel made one mistake after the 6 day war. They stopped. They should have bombed the ■■■■■■■ back to the stone age then there wouldn’t be trouble in the middle east. Just more Jews and more deserts turned into useable agricultural land.

Don’t think they are. Just a simple burial I reckon.
