The Bah Humbug Club!

John West:
I like Christmas. I’ll post a photo of my Christmas tree when I erect it in early December and hope to give some joy to you miserable…

In the meantime, here’s last year’s!

Come on, get with the season of peace and good will to all men!

Yes, I’m aware that our lounge looks like something out of the seventies, but we don’t care about that.

John.

:open_mouth: \Bloody hell, do you know how much electricity costs these days? :open_mouth:

That money being wasted there could be put to much better use pur-chasing single malt. (Islay preferably  )

Are you planning a visit to Carsington Water pete ? I can recommend it , plenty of easy walking , bird hides if you are interested and a good restaurant . water sports as well ( No not that sort ) . We go there quite often for a quiet day , natives friendly . Dave

Hi Dave,
I like the sound of the restaurant,is it licensed?

Don’t think it is licensed Pete, my next door neighbour is one of the the chefs there and it certainly has good reviews. Never been myself, spent too long in the bottom of the reservoir with the lorry waiting for a dumper to drag us back out of the blooming hole, my avatar pic was taken there.

Pete.

mushroomman:
Ecky Thump Windrush, you must be gagging after driving through that snow storm up int tills but don’t worry, I am sure that the rain will wash away all the snow very soon.
May I suggest a couple of local hostelries in the area that might still be worth a visit.
The Strawbury Duck at Turton, The Pack Horse on Watling Street, Affetside and The Fisherman’s Retreat in Shuttleworth where I highly recommend the Haggis or the Venison pie.
It’s a shame that you are a fully paid up member of The Bah Humbug Club as you would of liked The Ramsbottom Dickensian Christmas Markets and I think that you have already missed The D Day celebrations this year at the Rammy railway station. You could of got yer old suit out of the wardrobe and blended in with the rest of the crowd.
Don’t forget Pete, if it gets a bit cold where you are you can always jog round to the Krypton Factor Assault Course.

P.S. Is this Dennis in the red suit with the white beard.

Have a great week, Pete.

Not really interested in visiting pubs, we are teetotal here, but might have a meal out somewhere during the week. There was a decent place in Darwen that my brother took us to (he lives there) so may pay that a visit. I do all the cooking in our house anyway, that way I know what I’m eating! Christmas Market sounds like my idea of Hell, I remember battling around the Lincoln one many years ago pushing Mrs W in her wheelchair, she hated it and so did I so we will give that a miss. We want to visit the Imperial War Museum in Manchester and then just potter around relaxing.

Pete.

I’m only 47 mate, still living the dream…I think,

Only 47…ONLY 40 BLOOMING 7!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Hells bells, I’ve stuff in the fridge older than that! Blimey Dave, kids are posting in the Old Timers section now. Not that we are envious of course… :imp:

Pete.

Wouldn’t have thought you were that young at heart Pete…good thing though nobody knows my age, I probably wasn’t aloud to join the club if that was to come out…er…does anyone’s got a problem with a special kids corner then…

Cheers, Patrick

Nearly slipped through the net Patrick! I’d guess your in your 30’s and your most welcome as a member of this happy upbeat club!

Bugger Pete, I was hoping it did slipped through that net of yours  But you’re spot on about the age thing, 33 to be exact, that does make me the youngest member on here I reckon…?

Probably lightened by LED’s…er hang on… do they know what those are in that part of the country…it does seem some of them “natives” still live in the dark ages…

Cheers, Patrick

You are definitely showing great promise Patrick . Only 33 and with all the right sentiments already , you will be club president by the time you reach our advanced years . Dave

I heartily agree with rigsby about the new blood. We are short of new blood around here.
Best regards, Dracula, count (retd).

Cheers for the kind words! But it’s not that hard to become a cynical, grumpy old ■■■■■■■ these days, now is it, there’s enough motivation just reading the newspapers… and let’s not forget that the “most wonderfull time of the year” has to begin yet…

Don’t know about you ROF aka Count Dracula, but I much better prefer a nicely brewed cuppa…instead of a pint of “fresh” blood

Strange things happen to us after dark, young sir, but I do enjoy a mug of Yorkshire tea in the afternoon.

Along with a slice of fresh Black Pudding no doubt.

As do the most famous characters to come out of Yorkshire…not sure what they do after dark though…and if they eat some Black Pudding indeed…Wallis is more inclined towards a “sniffy” Wensleydale

Listen :imp: It’s not Yorkshire tea, we don’t grow team in Yorkshire, Rhubarb is our main crop.
As for the yoofs and mere kids infesting the ‘old timers’.thread…they should know their place.

Bah Humbug■■? I’ve ‘had words’ with the manager of our local Wetherspoons. He did erect a 6ft Christmas tree on Novenber 1st :imp: , that has now gone, only to be replaced by a b loody monstrosity of a thing that’s too tall for the room, they’ve had to cut the top off it to get it in, there’s nowhere for the fairy to sit.
Ridiculous.

And remember this…there are 12 days of Christmas, and none of em are in b loody November

Well spoken Sir! But…er…having a pint of rhubarb…? Never tried that before :unamused:

As for that manager, did he had one to many…? Putting that tree up on the 1st of November…
I do wonder about that “local” though, is that Leeds then? Or Bradford? Maybe even Wakefield :smiling_imp: :grimacing:
Oh and you were spotted when you got down to that Wetherspoons to have that civilised conversation with the manager, better to let the air out next time I reckon…

But on a more serious matter, let’s not forget why this club was…er… erected!
