The 90s!

I remember when drivers would actually slow down and flash you out.
Now there to busy boxing you in and slowing you down.
.

But DRIVERS still do that now… it’s the others that don’t. :bulb:

If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow. :bulb:

Janos:
Do you not do irony? Mao is the biggest mass muderer in history, and would of persecuted the likes of you, and yet you find him interesting?

Actually that is a common misconception.
I’d say Stalin probably holds the rank of biggest mass murderer. Maybe Hitler, heck maybe Genghis Khan.
The reason Mao is often given the badge of biggest mass murderer is due to his stupidity. He never intended to kill 50+ million people. For example, his policy of killing all sparrows was a complete disaster. His logic was China was short of food so killing all the sparrows would mean more grain. When in fact the sparrows were also keeping the locusts in check.

The great famine is interesting to read about but everything I have seen from it suggests that the 50+ million plus deaths are attributed to Mao’s ignorance and making stupid policies.

Now he is no doubt responsible for the deaths but I unlike Stalin and Hitler he did not intentionally kill these people.

Ye I find him interesting. I have the profile picture of him poking his tongue out as I think it is slightly amusing. My political allegiance is probably centre-right. I in no way endorse his ideology. I also find Stalin a pretty interesting chap.

Terrible taste in hairstyles though…not to mention fashion.

Why do young people have to use the word ‘like’ all the time?

I was ‘like’ thinking about this the other day, like. Like, seriously wtf?

As you can see it looks moronic in type and sounds equally idiotic verbally. Please stop using an American sourced filler word all the time as it’s very hard for me to have any interest in your subject matter. If you can’t even communicate in an educated manner, any potentially pertinent points in your communications could go unnoticed…like :unamused:

Your theory on Mao will bring much needed solace to the relatives of the intellectuals flogged to death on the farms. Would not want to taint my mind with any sort of hagiography on Mao or his comrades, so will politely decline your bedtime reading recommendations. However, I do suggest you read the Gulag Archipelago, it will give you some much needed perspective re Stalin.
Interesting that Stalin is a good name for a cat…and Mao means cat.

Thank you for the book recommendation. A quick google suggests it is a grim read but will give it a go. I managed to get through the ■■■■ of Nanking and a book about Unit 731 so should be up for it.
ps: the book I recommended was in no way in favor of Mao’s actions.

The blokes down here will get it. Western Star down under is apparently too long for the system.

Also ‘Tse Tung’ is Mandarin for ‘UK Tramp’. :open_mouth:

Spooky.

My grasp of…

The Mandarin language along with it’s many varied and diverse dialects isn’t as good as yours.

My understanding is that ‘Tse Tung’ in the northern chinese Mandarin dialect means ‘horses arse’.

This was also confirmed last night by Wei, who serves my pork and chicken fried rice (36a) and Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork (16).

Yep, but in the grand scheme of things, not really bothered if you are or not,.as we are kept being told it’s forum acceptable, …just putting it in the mix.

1990 I’d of been 29 , all i Was bothered about was where the next cider was comming from , was it a good time , it was a blur so hard to answer
Maybe ask the mrs , though I doubt her opinion on the 90,s married to me would be printable

Only downside of the 90’s was that music died.
Apart from Nirvana, Pulp and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers producing some good stuff…after that?
