I would say i can ONLY think of 4 answers at the most:
- clear ahead?
- left mirror
3 right mirror
4 shoulder check
that would be the checks I thought of too…

You missed curbside mirror!
Few trucks had them when i learned. They are often badly adjusted.
Not specifically watched for on the test as they are not a legal fitting requirement, just an aid.

And the Most Obvious one of course is that the vehicle is displaying a valid tax disc and Operators Licence Disc in the Window, no good having a brand new truck with no defects if the Tax and O licence aint being displayed,
Those checks are relevent Davey…& i’ve mentioned them b4 in here, but not in this case. The question was: “Before moving off”. NOT at start of duty or on taking over a vehicle…though i suspect that’s possibly what they were angling after. If so, as i said, the question is not worded correctly.

Here’s a funny thing.
In the Uk the rule for hooking up to a trailer are ;- Make sure trailer brake is on, back under till fith wheel locks, give it a tug, fit dog tag, conect airlines, wind up legs.
Over here (very silly);-
Back up to trailer till fith wheel touches, get out and check level of trailer against fith wheel, hook up air lines, back under trailer, wind up legs.
OR — how to get your airlines greasy and risk dropping the trailer when you move off, needless to say i still use the good old method.
allikat:
Is the cab secure? Has it been tilted recently and is it locked in place propperly?
i second this suggestion wholeheartedly, having been in a cab when its flung right over while braking…

First ones that come to mind are:-
Others include absence of any air leaks and may differ with the type of vehicle, Rigid/Artic, or the type of body, tipper, taillift, HIAB, Fridge Settings, etc.
I hope that helps.
Best of luck.
practically that all the soosies/electrics are in and that the dogclip is on for the 5th wheel - maybe MOT for trailer/truck, operators licence and tax disc - and the ones already suggested?
