Thank you to the Highways Agency!

There was a woman kicking up in the papers last year beacuse she was charged £1000 after her car blew up and dropped oil on the road.

Amey or some similar contractor sent out a hazardous spills unit to deal with 4 litres of engine oil. Could have done the job with a bag of sawdust, but there’s no profit in that.

Yes I am sure , I saw the Invoice they sent to the insurance company

wait til your insurance company gets the bill ,it a whopper :open_mouth:

■■■■ beat me too it. :imp:
First thing they said to me was ‘we’re going to fine you’, not even a hello. Never mind the fact I’d just nearly rolled my truck, was white as a leaf and shaking like a sheet :imp:
Admittedly the next shift was a lot nicer

After a few posts criticising the HA, I would like to say a thank you for the assistance on Saturday, I was travelling on the M42 J1-2 and all of a sudden BANG!

Smoke and debris EVERYWHERE, pulled up on the hard shoulder and saw that I had an O/S blow out, the mudguard had gone and my lights stopped working on that side, not sure where the mudguard was and thinking it was still on the motorway I called the HA and within minutes they were there and collected all the bits of tyre on the carriageway, they said the mudguard was not on the motorway (ZB knows where that went) and gave me a number to call back when the tyre fitter got to me.

I called them back an hour later when the fitter got there and again they were minutes away, closed lane 1 and 1 tyre later I made it to J2 to have the rest of the damage tended to (Mudguard rubbing on the tyre etc.)

I frequently see them and think why are they sitting there doing nothing but they do have their uses and if it was the police managing the roads like before, it would have taken a lot more time for them to get to me and would also take an officer or two off the streets.

So I would like to say Thanks for the assistance to the HA last weekend.

Oh and I would like to apologise to anyone affected by the sudden death of the kestrel, condolences to all affected.

Firstly thanks for the kind words and glad you were looked after.

Secondly, we do not charge for any sort of help, that we give, the only time you will be charged is if you damage any of the motorway furniture ie: central barrier, gouge the road surface (that’s got to be deep) near side barrier, lamp posts, emergency telephone boxes (ETBs) etc. yes we do sit up on the observation Ramps and over head bridges, this is called strategic parking in other words areas where we seem to get the problems.
For those that dont know the ETBs ring directly into our control room so if you breakdown or see anything that needs to be dealt with get on these phones and ring us, we will be here within 15 mins.
Thanks
