the good old days of working for tesco are gone though.
Me too.Now i generally dont take RSU except i get it ordered everytime for a Particular Store
Don’t seem to get the option down here - RSU pickup is compulsory on the end of every drop, even if it means reloading rubbish on top of the rest of the groceries for elsewhere!
Can’t be healthy can it?
I do Grocery
We took generally RSU in City till few Month ago,but not anymore.
t may be the Reason that Shops get closed as left back Rubish is a Magnet for Rats and Mice
starfighter:
Similar story to us, chill and frozen compartments on the vehicle with six drops (on an 18tonner - only about 3-5 cages each drop), but backhauling recycling to the depot. Got a fixed bulkhead down the middle of the truck to split it into a wide and narrow side. You get to the first drop and have to drop about six cages to the street to get one out of the freezer, then put them back up. At some point during the day you are going to have to drag everything out of the freezer and shove all the [zb] and empties down the front end of the vehicle. In the summer it does wonders for the freezer when you chuck cages full of cardboard that are at twenty odd degrees in there.
Once i got a Load RSU to S/mton went then next Door to DC,swapped Trailer to delivery chilled to Basingstoke.
Loaded emties, put Fridge to minus full down and parked them when i arrived in weybridge.
Shunter were just laughing when they sah me next.Musst have happened anything.
Starfighter, I meant having the goods in the same warehouse first. A bit like sainsburys at waltham point and hams hall. Fast moving grocery in with chill and prod, while rye park do the slow moving grocery
Its 1.25 and got a Call what im doing as its still busy as Hell, but most driver finishing as they run out of Time.
Newer had that before.
Sadly i have a Shift at 12.00
Santa:
If I were doing that; unless it is really hot outside, I would take the drop 3 frozen out at drop 2. It isn’t going to thaw in even a couple of hours.
Don’t you believe it!
The real reason there’s a shortage of Vanilla at the moment, is because some plonker at Langdons left his freezer full of ice cream on +25 instead of -25!!!
When I drove for Sainsbury’s we weren’t allowed to load the rubbish from any store unless the vehicle (rigid or trailer) was completely empty because of food health & hygiene regulations. If multi dropping you did all your deliveries & then went back round the other way collecting the cardboard & plastics etc,if any stores sent any goods back then no-one on that run got a rubbish collection done, empty cages yes, waste & recycling no.
I would’ve thought that Tesco would run that policy too as the food health & hygiene reg’s are aapliable by law…
tesco dont seem to really care tbh. Its a joke though because the little stores mump their gums off about how they have no room to store it inside…well store it outside while i go make my deliveries then i will come back and collect it. I used to end up getting the depot to send other drivers round to pick up some stuff for me as id end up getting like a full trailer of rubbish from the last store on a multidrop.
wasnt often i did multidrop for them always used to be 1 trailer 1 drop with me, mainly because of an incident where a cage of fruit ended up being frozen…LOL

Thats why the First Store gets closed, and stays closed over Easter regarding BBC.

When I worked there it was the cream job and if some store manager tried to put cages full of rubbish on the trailer he got an earfull and the stuff stayed there
If I worked as shunter on a bank holiday (Good Friday for instance) and I was not scheduled for that day my pay worked out at 27quid an hour … and I got a day off in leu
How does picking up rubbish result in a cage of fruit being frozen?
I would have thought it’s only a question of frozen wet cardboard, with maybe some rat droppings on it because it’s been left outside with some mouldy fruit… Some of these superstore yards seriously stink around the dock leveller area from mouldy something or other that has been put down the hole… How many of you have also seen the broken outers of sauce/jars/anything liquid sitting RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOCK PANEL where you can either fall over it, kick more of it down the hole, or cut your ankles on the broken jars etc…
(1) Mess needs to be cleaned up. I’m not a dustcart driver, nor do I hold any tickets for handling toxic biohazard waste.
(2) Warehouse areas are clearly too small, if you can’t get a ■■■ paper between cages already lying around in the warehouse when you then turn up with another load, which they cannot store inside at all.
(3) Staff seem to be very junior when it comes to those handling “goods in”.
(4) There seems to be a lot of broken dock levellers, scissor lifts, ramps, etc. That’s no skin of my nose being paid by the hour, but there are those who’ll get moaned at for taking too long when making a delivery.
There was an annoucement in the press this week that Tescos are discontinuing their “value” range.
Maybe they’ve lost too much of it down the hole…
The frozen fruit incident was when i was a total newbie with fridges, eg this was the first time id pulled/used one. nobody showed me how to work them etc or whatnot
some cages were being sent back from a store, didnt have any rubbish etc though so nowt to do with that. anyway i put the cages up front strapped them in and without thinking switched the fridge back on. It was a 3 compartment trailer aswell so yea

I do it the easy Way.
With still Agreement of Store Manager and Back-Door Staff i get a restaurant Card and said chill down till we ready. When i have Eaten and rested after about an Hour they call me down where i find Trailer un-loaded and re-loaded with Rubish.
Just drop on a silent site in Yard,Paper on ABS-Socked with RSU on it and a short Word to Shunter (but not clearly as they would report you). Gives less Work and a free Meal, and someone 3 Hour to carry it to RSU Centre

shunting at tesco is the best job at tesco, manic for about an hour, 6 hours of basically getting the store drivers to put trailers on the bay, then about 4 hours of drips and drabs off the bays, then another hour of manic then home lol
