These pics were scanned from Truck and Driver magazine.

Bonkey, tyhese pics are great mate!

Did the Reiver ever get beat for payload? 17 tons as a 6 wheeler were talking here.

No worries Borderer mate ! I mean,if I had my way,ALL pics on here would be Tarmac related !

More to come too,as and when I get me sweaty mitts on new piccies !

As for the payload,I can remember Peakstone at Dove Holes Quarry having a handful of Reivers and the same number of 6 wheeler ERF B series.
I kid you not when I tell you that the net weight on the Reivers were nearly 2 tons more than their Sandbach counterparts ! :open_mouth:

(Just over 15 ton for the ERF,just under 17 for the Reivers ! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: )

Well, well, well ! Happen I have found two more !

But,that will have to do for now as it’s way past me bedtime !

But you can guarantee I’ll be back on the hunt for more seven T’d beauties come the morning !

Cheers, there seems to be a lack of pics on the net, Limmer and Trinidad related. My old man, worked for them for a number of years, late sixties early seventies and have spent many a school holiday with him. Shame we didnt take any pics though. His last wagon was a 1970 AEC Mercury with a Neville Pavertrailer.

He was there when Tarmac took them over too. The only 8 wheeler I have ever driven was a Scammell belonging to Tarmac (when I was 16!!)

Hi Bowserman.I agree with your comment that there seems to be a real dearth of Limmer photos about. :frowning: Hopefully, one day in the not too distant future, someone may just find a few then boot them up on here !

About the Scammell you drove when you was a nipper, was it a Routeman tipper, and can you remember the reg plate ? I ask as there was quite a large batch based at Middle Peak in the early 70s,and these were the mark 2s that had twin circular head lights instead of the lated rectangular shape that the mark 3s had.The reg plate for these would have been something like H or J maybe.

Then as an ex Tarmac driver once told me,Tarmac had another big batch of the later model at Corby works.

I’m afraid I don’t ever remember seeing any as in Derbyshire, they had ERF and Foden 8 wheelers and then later,Reivers and Volvo F7 six wheelers.
