Tacho advce when going abroard

hitch:
we need to know what time you intend to start
but defo sounds like a “night out” will be required for the whole journey

I’ll be putting the tacho in at 9pm sunday so the shift will finish at 12pm monday .I can’t understand why the boss has booked to larne as we usually use stenna to belfast ,must be a cost issue .I spoke to him yesterday about the hours and he suggested me drive a van up to carlise ,he drives the truck and then we swap ,but surely that will still impact my driving hours ,i wouldn’t be on a tacho in the van but i think those hours technically should count in my working hours and so fall within the 15hr shift .It’s defo going to be a night out so i think any saving from swapping ferries has been lost by paying me more for the night out

the van would be under domestic so that means a max of 10 hours driving time in any 24 hour period
the lorry would be under EU regs so max 10 hours driving time if you have one available
Although the domestic driving counts as other work for EU regs the eu driving counts as driving for domestic resgs
as both sets of driving time must be adhered to then there is no advantage

If you were to use a car instead of the van then that would give an advantage for the driving time but not the shift time because the car driving would be other work for eu regs but does not come under domestic regs

Thought so ,looks like i’ll be getting the bus to carlise then. :grimacing:

The bus would aslo be other work or POA for eu regs
