drinking again bob? thought they`d cured you
Sure you can read them for free, which means there’s no money to pay writers - most of them former truckers - no circulation figures to attract advertisers and a a good excuse for newsagents not to stock the title.
The next issue of TRUCK will be the last, after 30 years during which it changed the face of truck journalism across the world and inspired many of us to become professional drivers it’s left the road. Keep your hands in your pockets and others will follow…
As for titles covering similar issues, well trucking is a small constituency, albeit spread over a wide area. There are around 100 car makers, 30 van manufacturers but only seven big players in European truck making,so you’re inevitably going to see similar product reviews. On the subject of features, most of T&D’s subjects come directly from readers, if other mags choose subsequently to run the same story then imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery.

That’s sad to hear, now I feel guilty for not buying every month.
Someone pick me up the last issue of Truck and mail it to me? Please?
And on the subject, I’m sat here in a T&D hat, so my colours are firmly nailed to the mast. Shobba rules

Alright, I’ve not been reading that thread. I shall take a gander.
I get both usually, but if I could only have 1 it would be trucking.
I buy Trucking when I can as opposed to T+D.
There is more to read in Trucking, but as other people have said, more ads.
I didn’t know Truck Magazine was finishing.
I think I still have the first copy in the loft somewhere.
From memory, it had a Leyland on the front cover (dunno which model).
I’ll get the Black + Decker Workmate out ( My loft ladder / step !!) and the torch and let you all know.
Cheers,
Niall.

I hope Dave doesn’t mind me saying that T&D definitely won’t be going anywhere It’s the number one truck related mag in the UK and we’ll continue to work hard at keeping it that way.
As for no announcement in the new issue of TRUCK, the copy went off to the printers over a week ago, whereas all of those affected were informed at the start of this week, too late to make the changes. The issue that’s now on the stands is the penultimate issue, the last will be out in a month’s time.

Bold statement. I am sure the people, writers and editors behind Trucking, Transport News, and those responsible for Motor Transport and Commercial Motor (which is also Reed Business Information by all accounts) might disagree.
It’s certainly the number one driver related magazine in the UK.
Closing Truck won’t do T&D any favours because Truck is more of an enthusiasts magazine. Trucking will be the only one that will benefit because its pretty close in style.

They can disagree all they like but they can’t argue with the figures: thanks to its loyal readers T&D outsells the rest.
And going by the annual Trucknet poll it’s the drivers favourite here too
Hmmm… I am not sure suggesting “sales figures”, you didn’t give any numbers, which always makes me suspicious, is the best way to claim to be the best ‘truck’ related magazine on the market. After all, drivers will always outnumber their bosses, management, policy and decision makers, where as the other magazines appear to go someway to catering for them, and in a majority of cases drivers too.
It’s about demographics. Targeting a larger audience like drivers and then claiming to be the number one ‘truck’ magazine is a simple equation, which doesn’t take much imagination. Perhaps T&D should drop the &D and take on the mantle of Truck.
If your argument is that sharp then The Sun would rightly claim to be the best newspaper as it sells the most, do you agree with that?
And a Trucknet poll is also lopsided because it’s a forum for ODs and drivers not bosses, management, policy and decision makers. So I refer to my original statement, kind sir.
It’s certainly the number one driver related magazine in the UK.
luke are you connected to a truck related magazine? just nice to know who i`m reading from thanks
Me thinketh, the man, He doth protest too much!

I thought that owner drivers were the bosses, They are the ones who need to know about the new trucks and regulations, to make an informed decision on growing their business.
The “bosses”, I presume you mean, Company Directors and Shareholders, dont give a shot about what the magazines write. They only look at the bottom line.
