It’ll be a good earner if sains buy it and build a truck stop.
apparently sainsburys do own the land, ref my post about reopening
I can’t see Sainsburys being worried about opening a truckstop, unless it was part of the deal of having the land for the store. Anybody know if there was a truck park on the site before Sainsburys or somewhere else in Swindon that is now a supermarket? Maybe they now want the land to expand the store, but have to provide an alternative site for truck parking.
Maybe one of the reasons the place seemed to be so run down was that the owners were never to sure when Sainsburys could take the land back, so no point in putting money into upgrading the facilities, or it could be they were just [zb] who got what they could out of it.

I commented what’s going on, the little Asian guy behind the counter said nothing, but there was an older guy standing next to the counter and he said what do you think and my answer was either a refit or closing , he said your right closing down.
They had a problem a few weeks earlier with contaminated fuel and 6 trucks broke down after filling up, they then shut the pumps for a couple of weeks while it was sorted out.
Just about sums them up. One ignores you and the other can’t give you a sensible reply. No surprises about contaminated fuel, it matches the food. Which of course always had more oil in it than the diesel.

Good riddance to the filthy [zb] hole. Rude staff, unreliable fuel pumps, crap shoo, crap food crap exit onto the A420, smell of rancid stale oil always in the air…no doubt the rose tinted forum will bemoan its’ loss because they spent a cold winters’ night in a Leyland in there but I certainly wont be upset at its’ passing.
Every word above is the truth, dirty ■■■■ hole should have shut years ago.
little update…
went in there on Monday all the pumps were shut and was told that new management were taking over at this weekend, will look back in there next week to see what’s happening.
Has it opened again yet.■■

They could serve dog turds in glue microwaved to luke warm and it’d be an improvement over what was previously on offer.
I’m sure there is a covenant on the area that doesn’t allow it’s owners (Sainsbury’s) to sell or redevelop the land for any other use. Hence the ownership change. Good luck to them, we all need these facilities.
Called in there last week.
The new owners have now taken over and reopened the truck stop. They have fuel, they even have a wide and varied menu. (Didn’t try the food as I just wanted fuel!)
A large wad of cash is going to be spent on the place with brand new toilets and showers, a fully stocked shop and whatever is left over will be spent getting rid of the smell of stale cooking oil!
The lady on the till said parking will be about £20 with a shower and a meal which I didn’t think was too bad. At the moment they can only accept SNAP or cash as the new card machine hadn’t arrived yet. She also said that if we could all bear with them for the short term as things are a little chaotic but they hope to have normal service up and running just as soon as they figure out what normal is!

Still charging for parking in 2015
Plenty of places to park for free near to wash facilities and food outlets.
Theres good parking near the triumph bra manufacturers, lol, nearby heading gloucesterwards, peaceful with a harvester joint not too far away. Not sure about clampers, unless ive bin unusually lucky.
Stopped at Cartgate near Yeovil last week, well impressed, decent provender, nice mix of folk with a good west country vibe,is it me or do the people improve the further west you go?there’s got to be a corralation with the nicer the scenery the friendlier and approachable the inhabitants, just a thought.
Sounds like it will be OK when the new owners get it sorted. Hope they haven’t kept on the same rude, miserable, ignorant staff, because that was the cause of a lot of problems there.
