Suttons tanker overturned

switchlogic:
Most of that will polish out

I bet the driver β– β– β– β–  himself when it started to go over! Just shows how strong these things are given the damage to the offside. They always like sort of fragile to me. Obviously not.

Hope the drivers ok! Be intrested to know how it actually rolled tho

Firstly it is really good news that the driver is ok but am I the only one that is wondering how this happened.A tanker rolling over could have killed the driver wiped out other vehicles killing or injuring their occupants.
Although I am sure the police will find out what happened I find it strange nobody has made any mention to how it might have happened.
I just hope it was not driver error for once and something that maybe can be prevented from happening again.

Looking at it all the tyres seem intact so we can rule out a blowout, it looks to me like it might have been up that banking to the side, then rolled back off. It seems to be lying the wrong way round to me for a 360 rollover assuming it was travelling in the direction it finished up facing.

I was thining it looks like it has slid/rolled down the banking by all the mud/soil that is on the road near the tyres in the pic of the underside

As for the fule spillage was the suggestion that the tanker was recoverd on a low loader/underlift then continued to leak fuel as it was moved to where ever it was taken?

its at a funny angle, going by the pic maybe a 360 almost - veered left onto the bank rolled over to the right and slide down on its side as apposed to landing back on its wheels, had that flipped over completely on the tarmac instead of grass bank hate to think what may of happened if it had sparked as truck/trailer met the tarmac

By the look of the photos it occured at a junction, the tanker appears to be laying over the end of a slip road, plenty of potential ingredients to β€˜derail’ any vehicle at a junction I’m thinking.

Wrong. This happened next to a layby. Maybe the driver was on cruise and went unconcious for what ever reason and went up the bank at the start of the layby.

A tanker can roll over very easily even at a low speed, there are few tell tale signs as the liquid moves. The reason that has gone over is simply steering input, maybe a car, maybe a sleepy driver. I doubt very much that it is mechanical.

They are saying fuel leaked from J13 to J21. Was that from the tanker that crashed or from the recovery vehicle?

what the [zb] why would recovery vehicle be leaking fuel dont talk so daft

The recovery vehicle that was used to decant the load from the tanker, not to tow the tanker.

So the tanker overturned, yet leaked fuel for scores of miles before doing so? J13 to J21 is a flippin long way. It just sounds like two seperate incidents. An overturned tanker would not spew its load for 8 junctions would it.

Suttons purchase a bespoke insurance package which provides full cover not only for the vehicle but for the enviromental impact as well, I can confirm that there was not any leakage for 8 junctions!
