supermarket parking tickets

DONT PAY !!!

Do not pay, do not enter into any correspondence with said company as you are, in there eyes, admitting liability. Ignore it, it will go away.
They cannot take any money from anyones wages without a court order, if they threaten this again i`m sure hmrc will be interested.

Partner got a ticket at the retail park usual thing pay quick and only pay half the cost I told her to ignore it.then the usual letters with threats and demands with the cost going up each time. Ignored all of them, then heard nothing, so thought that was the end of it.she has now received letters from a collection agency threatening to arrest her wages.the question is can they do this ? Anyone been in this position before and what happened.

Had same problem few years back, all the usual threatening letters, which by coincidence came from a solicitors firm with same address as parking firm, then more documents made to look like they were legal with all sorts of crests and legal terms on. They sent recorded delivery letters, i refused to sign for them. Ignored the lot of them, in the end they gave up

Just ignore they’ll go away

The next time you go to a supermarket, ask for the manager and give him this invoice;

To
Manager

I am shopping in your store during working hours, it generally costs me two hours wandering around your store as your staff keep moving everything between my visits. I earn £12 per hour, so for the time wasted in your store. I will charge £25

Please arrange to pay this charge before I leave the store. If you pay me as I enter, you qualify for a 10% discount.

Thanks

A S Hopper

Yes, this thing with the “pretend” solicitors really ■■■■■.

All the stiff letters and things make nice poop scoops though. Saves ■■■■■■■ off the bettaware people though, as I used to leave their crap-covered catalogue still in its clingfilm at my front gate for the pickup.

It could have been worse - I might have bothered to take it out of the clingfilm before using it for some serious turd pickup.

What’s not so well known with all this parking ticket stuff, is that the same applies to defaulted credit card debts - one never needed any “PPI” because when you can’t afford it, you just throw it away - providing you’ve re-paid an amount equal to what you’ve spent of course.
Over 5 years you might have spent £20k, paid back £21k, and be being chased for another £25k in interest and other charges… Bunging the card at that point means the interest and charges don’t get chased, because the courts won’t back them up - same as private parking fines. You’ve already repaid the capital, and you no longer agree to pay the interest, and backdated that withdrawal of permission. THis is why firms keep saying things like “It’s not too late - we have not put your account into default yet!” almost pleading with you to carry on making the payments… Once the account goes into default, the debtor is only obliged to repay the original sums borrowed - and the creditors know it.
Shame so many of the public will consider theft from third parties, or worse - killing their wife and kids over a stupid 5 figure debt… It ain’t worth it people. Think of the children. :frowning:

What, allowing the filth who drive the trucks that feed, fuel and clothe the nation to park in a Tesco car park and buy some food and allow them to act and behave like a human being. Go and wash your mouth out with soap and water!

As for your satnav and the walmarts, do you mind me asking what you’re using? I’m getting a bit fed up of google earthing every time I need to find a walmart in an area I’ve never been before.

You can get an app (free) called trucker tools, tells you nearest truckstop/rest area/walmart etc, very good, comes up with phone numbers and directions too :sunglasses:

What is that for? I dont have an iphone or such like. My technology consists of a laptop, a basic mobile phone with 10-4 two way radio and a tomtom satnav that I brought out with me from England 4 years ago and that has served me extremely well but does nothing for walmart locating and more importantly, letting me know if trucks can get in to them. I had a very nasty experience in Florida last year involving a Walmart I was commited to entering down a poxy filter lane that branched off in to a landscaped and highly curbed area and I then couldn’t make the turn in to any of the parking aisles as they’d put big boulders on all the kerb corners. Quite how the other trucks got in I dont know, I couldn’t and had to reverse all the way out again on a busy one way street. An experience I never want to repeat!

+1
Apps are the devil’s instruments. :smiling_imp:

Thanks for all the replies guys will let it run it’s course

I cancelled a gym membership over six years ago, still get letters saying I’m going to go to court. They’ve been saying that for six years. I never ever reply and when they come now I just put them in the bin unopened

Thats one thing I like about over here. Nobody really cares where you park your truck, wether its in a Walmart carpark, bobtail in a McDonalds or in your driveway at home. In the UK a truck is unfortunetely a huge annoyance to most people and God forbid anyone should take their truck home and spoil the ambience of the neighbourhood with its ugly presence, it may lower house prices! and it wouldn’t be long before the police and vosa were wagging the proverbial finger about something as petty as operating centres etc.

If you totally ignore them they can’t do anything viable, it’s private property, they all try to get money from you.
Once you acknowledge reciept of any letter or return contact about the ticket you then legally acknowledge owing the fee, if you have no contact and never reply there is not much they can do.
Companies started doing this since wheel clamping became illegal.

I stopped in Kmart parking lot in Burlington VT last week to do a spot of shopping and I hadn’t even locked the door before a local cop was on the scene :open_mouth:
“You can’t park here driver, it’s a ticket if you do”
I looked around and saw a sign saying ‘no overnight parking’ I pointed out that there was only a night time ban and I was in fact going shopping.
“I’ll have to give you a ticket if you leave your truck” he said.
“Then do so but I will fight the ticket in court because there are no signs saying no parking and I am a customer”
“You vehicle is taking up a lot of parking spaces for cars” he said.
I looked around the area about 3 times the size of a football pitch to see half a dozen cars there  “You want to give me a ticket then do so but it will be revoked”
“Yeah, like you are gonna come here from Iowa to go to court and fight it” he grinned.
“I don’t live in Iowa, I live 90 minutes drive from here” I showed him my licence and he drove off. I noticed a few days later the lot was half full of overnight parked trucks.

FFS Pat, you dont half get some agro from the cops in your area! The one that always sticks in my mind was the fool of a cop who was driving behind you with his high beams on and thinking that because you didn’t have an internal rear view mirror that you wouldn’t be blinded. Priceless.
