A wild guess, he messed up his proceedure on split coupling and was trapped between unit and trailer ■■?
I very much doubt the media managed to report the actual facts of the incident, they rarely get the facts right hence my above guess.
Hope he makes a full recovery !

A man had to be freed by firefighters after becoming trapped between a lorry and a supermarket in Worksop.
The man became stuck between his lorry and the loading bay at Aldi on Gateford Road, Worksop at around 4.50am.
Fire crews from Worksop freed the man and administered first aid at the scene. Paramedics were also present to treat the man.
Driver from Darlington,stuck between dock leveller lip and trailer. This is not speculation as I was one of two drivers sent down to tip his load and bring his truck back. Hes a lucky lad but wont be working for a couple of weeks, nothing broken but will have a nasty scar from where the lip dug into his lower leg. I know H & S gets a slating on here but his high ankle safety boots may well have stopped him from losing a foot.
Whilst talking of Health and Safety how did they know he was in trouble. I have not worked for Aldi but hear they run a strict lone worker policey, is this what saved him or was people on the sceene?

Not allowed to discuss details on here as there is an ongoing investigation into the matter but the store is situated next door to housing so the driver was fortunate there were people near enough to hear him screaming

From the time given in the press report it would probably have been solo working and, from knowing how my company operate at unmanned stores, would have had to notify someone on entry. From then on there may be security measures which have allerted the control centre of someone in trouble. This is speculation on my part as our outfit do not allow singleton working at any client premises. Russ may know more but be restricted to what he would be allowed to say on an open forum.
Hope the driver’s injuries are soon healed.
i hope the driver makes a full recovery BUT the fact that he was lucky enough that somebody in the area heard him and didn’t just think of the children . also lucky they didn’t rob the load as he was stuck
lone working into dead drops always scared me when i did them always looking over your shoulder and the fear something like this incident happening ’ i always made sure my phone was in my pocket and always had my maglite ( to check the dark areas officer ) but under ground in some of the shopping centres with the oap security who never even woke as you past his office in an artic was a bit of a worry

YEH YOU WONT BE ALOUD TO TALK ABOUT IT MATE ALDI SECRETS ACT OF COURSE .just a matter of time before someone gets killed doing lone working at stores .it should not be aloud anywhere in freezers at night by yourself walking past the sign on the door saying no lone working in this area .it will take a death to sort it out .that poor guy can thank his lucky stars it wasnt him .he could have lay there for an hour as you are aware of how it works ma friend it always worried me when i worked for them lucky i dont anymore thank god
