Prob pinged a weight sensor on m25 and they were looking out for him.

Do people still believe in them . Plus they have removed the weigh bridge at the tunnel.

yes I know they have them mate but I don’t believe they are used to any effect on busy Brittish motorways. A bloke I work with went over one near Jabbeke in Belgium . The police pulled him over because it had pinged up at 56t it turns out he just braked on the sensor , he was 22t all up .

But they pulled him over. How good or bad they are is by the by a big weight like the one your mate flagged is going to get you some interest.

Though I’ve never seen them used, there is a set off traffic lights on the E/B A13 at Dagenham, and to the left there is a gate that goes through to a VOSA checkpoint, so I always assumed that the lights were to stop the traffic for the VOSA to pull trucks in. So this method may not be new

Ive seen them used there, and you are correct.

Ah My suspicion confirmed, thanks

Vehicles are stopped due to height & haz issues, spotted by crossing staff either in the old booths or the lookout spot on the left as you aporoach. If the VOSA/DVSA want you there, they use their Noddy vans & take you off before the booths at 1A, or they jump in front of you coming down Bob Dunn way. The weighbridge & their hut is back & working. However, they are not welcomed there, as many of the HATO’s, especially the old school Dartford Crossing staff, believe they get in the way of the tankers & wide loads sharing the same bay! Believe me the crossing staff fo not do the VOSA’s dirty work for them!!!

Could have just tipped hazardous and not removed the stickers properly, if I’m coming back through on a Friday I sometimes leave the stickers on and stop in the pen, it saves a hell of a lot of traffic :grimacing: And the last time I was stopped by vosa, was by those very lights at Gale St

I got stopped at the left booth last week as I’d come on at 1a and they said I was over height although my trailer was a bit lower than what the marked sign was.
They escorted me though the tanker bay and I had to go up to 1b turn round and use the right tunnel
