Stoneridge Tachos - are they really that bad?

Strange that, every Scania I’ve driven since 07 has had stoneridge in it, the ones we’re on now are a newer version which seem easier to use than the first ones IMO…

I would rate the stoneridge better than a vdo

+1^^^^ & they tend to be fitted to Scania too…

Stoneridge are made by Scania, hence why only found in Scanias! We have a mix of all tacho heads at our place and did find them difficult to start with but got given a printed sheet which makes the job a bit easier!

a marriage made in heaven then !

I was told about a stoneridge in a DAF other day, and I believe the guy that mentioned it. But, his firm also run Scania’s, so could’ve been swapped over due to a fault??

I also am not a fan of Stoneridge, but it’s probably just what you’re used to ■■ Most trucks have VDO / Siemens, so most drivers are used to them. I really like the new version of the Siemens / VDO, the manual entry system is great, so simple.

Stoneridge Tachographs aren’t made by Scania, they’re made by Stoneridge Electronics Ltd - headquarters in UK (Dundee), and manufacturing plants in Sweden and Estonia.

I can confirm that Stoneridge are not Scania or any other OEM – and they also have one of the new genration products that doesnt rob minutes of your driving hours- but it does seem that their education of drivers using it isnt as good as it could be- going by this thread, perhaps some thing Stoneridge may consider and use these forums to get feed back on what they need to improve

We are working to improve driver education, including an online training section on the new SE5000 Exakt Duo digital tacho. These online training tools include short how-to videos, instructions, and common scenarios to work though on a tacho simulator. You can find the training site here:
