hitch:
they should explain a few hows and whys
eg the use of the Anderson lead to jump start the truck
and show how walking floors work
It makes more interesting TV if someone drives half way across the country to discover they havent got an Anderson lead, never mind what it does!
Apart from putting insects down your pants I cant think of much worse TV
Now wheel nut I would of thought your mate at google would of put you right on Anderson leads or drivers not having them,a little story
Driver leaves nwk to travel up to donny solo, when he gets there they give him his run(Redcar),they check the paper work to see if its a scissor lift, dock or a tail lift job, after checking they tellsaid driver he doesn’t need one as its a scissor lift (they keep them and issue them as they deem needed).so off he goes even though he has a few reservations at this stage ,when he gets there he starts to reverse on too the scissor lift only to be told to stop,.
Scissor lift is broke drive well have to tip and load you off your tail lift ,the driver then querys if they have a Anderson lead as he doesn’t,they dont ,so he then rings up to report all this to be asked why did he leave without one ,driver gave a nice polite reply, there going to get one there
15 mins later the phone rings and a very nice bloke says,I hear you’ve gone up to Redcar without a Anderson lead but don’t worry it’s sorted we’re getting a driver who’s 1/2 hr a way to bring you one,we all make zb ups from time to time ,he was then put in the picture of the real facts ,he then says your now sorted so forget it leads on its way
Driver says I’m not so sure I am sorted as I’ve no idea if the tail lift works or not ,matey says you what ,its part of your job to check if the tail lift works before you leave,it’s on your check sheet.
Driver says but how do you do that when the wont give me a Anderson lead
Matey, this is zb stupid(tell me about it),it won’t happen again
2 weeks later,Lincoln, wragbyby road, they insist it a scissor lift I need to give driver a lead,it’s not,but luckily they have a lead there
Some bloody drivers, you just wouldn’t believe they’d go without a lead would you,I mean if they turn up without one it can only be through there in competence can’t it what the poor old office staff have to put up with:lol:

I thought the best bit was when talking about the MP4 Actros, when he said about any driver can stand erect in the morning! that got a few chilhish giggles in this house.
peewee:
i actually lowered my self to watch this last night and laughed at the time it took for matey to unload and reload the transporter
I’m assuming you don’t drive a car transporter…
Thats a fact, my first few times with a Plus 11 was measured in hours not minutes, talk about bloody complicated you’re head spins.
I watched it for the first and last time on Friday night as my mate told me the transporters were featured.
Why the hell do the drivers put themselves up for this, its so obviously scripted as to be embarrasing to watch and the geezer doing the voiceover needs a bloomin good kick up the arse as my old mum used to say, he must have been influenced by that bloody American Sherriff who talks through his teeth on the US Cop Chase Videos…he completely spoiled what could have been a reasonably interesting program.
Would have liked more info on the Hybrid Rigid, as usual dumbed down far too much…up to 30% better fuel consumption than what?

no i dont i work at a car dealership which has lot of transporters come and go regulary yesterday 5 turned up in total and the drivers where quick and effortless
Childish giggles in our house too, didn’t know road haulage magazines could have that effect on you!,I’m in Belgium so I’m going to pick up Truckstar as I’ve heard it’s a bit more ■■■■■■■■■ than truck and driver lol!!
Are Stobarts involved in the finance or production of these TV programmes
Do they do it because:
it is a profitable venture
it advertises Stobarts name to potential new customers
it promotes Stobarts image, making the public more sympathetic to them
It informs existing customers of the difficulties hauliers face
it is vanity of the Stobart board
it is a “bit of fun” for the stobart board
it demeans the skill of the drivers making more wannabees apply for jobs thus preventing higher wages
it demeans the skill of the drivers reducing their appetite for collective wage bargaining
it glamorizes the job to enhance “non-wage” benefits
disclosure, I’ve worked for Stobs through agency, found good and bad, they try to do it right, I always felt slightly exploited but I keep taking the money
I watch the program and like most laugh at the ‘high tension’ voice over. It’s entertainment and should be treated as such.
But I have to say it is the only positive view the general public get of our industry.
We are not wanted in towns and villages; we bully car drivers; we cause every major motorway accident; we are fat, rude and thick; and so the list goes on.
I hope we get more series of EST&T. It will not change my views but it might educate the average viewer just a little on the problems we face each day.
