Will do. Retired now, remarried and enjoying it.

I’ve never had anything to do with hauling steel but the 5 trucks I saw last week were all 4 leggers, which looked as I passed by to be g-cabs,now I was under the impression the ywere brought to do light work, store deliveries, chilled etc.
I’ve no doubt a massive blue- chip company would of specced trucks that were up to the job,but it did make me wonder, probably just showing my lack of knowledge of hauling steel.

Surely if you are operating in a country where the gross weight is 40t for both 5 and 6 axles then a 4 wheeler will offer the greater payload. It also depends on what sort of steel they are carrying, if it’s coils for car plants a lot of these tend to be around 15tonnes so you can only put one on, so not as heavy as you might imagine.

Good luck to them, we would all moan if Johnny Foreigner was hauling British loads on the continent. Don’t much care for stobart but nice to see a BRITISH haulier flying the flag in Europe.

Thanks ,that clears it up then,I just wondered as I’ve had a issue or two over weight lately to be met with that’s the only trucks we’ve got, took 6 leggers off of us,with that in mind I obviously put 2+2 =5

It’s quite true. They’ve just won a huge contract apparently (fact)… If rumours are true they gonna need 300+ units over in Europe very soon

Roll up roll up get your supermarket wages and ninjas turtle uniform here.

Btw im out here now and bloody loving it. Not seen any g cabs yet. Legal mgw in Germany is 40ton so the extra axle is a waste over here

Spotted one today on the ‘40’ near Wachtendonk(D) heading in the Venlo direction…

Eddie Stobart bought Walton Automotive Transport so Walton Automotive had Czech and Dutch divison so they just keep drivers to work for Stobart Automotive now
