Shoshaye:
Norbet will run his at a loss for a week and put stobbart outa business if he ever puts a powder tank on the road. Fact
Fact ? Wasn’t the same said if Stobart went into Europe
Wasn’t that his warning lol. Do you see many stobbart trucks travelling alone over the water?
Yes
They do shed loads abroad. Just about every train has a Stobart on it of some description . The two local depots around here cant get enough European trampers . At one point about half there fleet was either LHD or 4x2 with long range tanks
They bought Autologic group which was massive, but sold on the import and pdi divisions.
So i don’t think you can anything for granted, if they did buy them out it won’t make much difference to the drivers apart from uniform colour, especially if the drivers already have a proper union to ensure their present terms and conditions are kept, as the Autologic lads have done.

No union at Lomass, but dont matter as it ain`t going to Stobbies, certainly not the tanker/tipper divisions, only think that might possibly go is the warehousing at Winsford, but would doubt that.
dew:
Passed a Stobarts trailer being pulled by a Marshalls (the brick people) unit the other day, think that’s just xmas rush sub contracting though.
Yes i get quite excited when i see Marshalls (the brick people) on for Stobarts as its nearly christmas
The transport manager for marshalls is called guy ripley,he used to be the transport manager at esl at normanton then wakey,im guessing thats why they have a few of their motors in when its christmas and the brick work is slow.
Sorry pal, full of bloody cold and not thinking right!
Doesnt it amaze you how stupid rumours start, dont think for one minute that stobbies could afford Dinkies!
leigh13070:
Heard on the grapevine that Stobarts are after buying Lomas Distribution, anyone else heard anything
Will people please stop listening to the rdc crap. Think you will find that Richard could but Stobbies with the loose change on his pocket.
Why oh why would Stobbies want to get into the powder tank game to be held to ransom by the likes of Lafarge/Tarmac.
Don’t Tarmac own half of Lomas or is that all nonsense too■■?
Tarmac don’t exist any more. It became Lafarge Tarmac (or LafTar) for short, and slowly the Tarmac name is being dropped.
There’s rumours in the industry that a merger between LafTar and Bardon could be on the cards, but I can’t see it without the Competition Commission taking a long hard look.
Don’t quote me but I have a source who can confirm that they are already working together!

It’s possible but I’ve seen nothing concrete atm. Bardon seem to be on a self destruct atm but it’s something I can’t go into in public. Let’s just say their expectations of “Franchised Hauliers” are not founded in reality…
