I would love to get into it, but nobody will touch me as i dont have experience on them. catch 22 again
MCD were paying £8.40 ph with extras for o/t after 8hrs, £2.50 a car bonus, £21.50 n/o and £3.50 meal allowance 4 years ago, a few autologic lads moved over to them at Nissan coz their money was being cut somehow, there’s a lot of different pays scales in that type of work . Some never got paid for loading time but made it on mileage, you should of seen them boys load, quick as ■■■■

That is the essential problem with the pay structure at Autologic. The only way to earn the money is to get the cars off as the majority of your wages are made of car bonus. If you’re experienced, you can pull up at a site, and whatever the combination of vehicles you have, know exactly how to throw it on the truck and get out of the gate, get the cars off and get to the next site to throw a different load on the back. The experienced guys, therefore, can earn a good wage in return for working really hard, whilst the new drivers are stood there scratching their heads. (I will just say, though, that car transport is an area where ANY driver will help you out if you are struggling). New blokes won’t earn the money until they get the experience, they get fed up with all the hassle and grief that goes along with car transport, and leave. As someone mentioned earlier, it’s not uncommon to have only 2 drivers out of 10 newbies still in the job after 6 months.
The MCD pay structure was much more sensible for new drivers, and also existing drivers who didn’t want to run themselves ragged in return for a reasonable wage. It’s interesting to see that of the 100 plus drivers who transferred from MCD to Autologic when they got taken over 2 years ago, there aren’t that many still there and happy. You’ve got to have a certain kind of mindset to work for Autologic…

Have you tried Autologic yet?, Kirk Sandall main depot keep training new blokes and they keep buggering off.
I wonder if Stobarts have to keep getting into new sectors to give the TV crew something new to film.

Only ■■■■ poor jobs and agencies advertise for drivers these days, i’ve never had any joy whatsoever from a website, waste of space them things.
When it was Walon, you would only get a look in at certain depots if recommended, the job isn’t as good as it was but still better than most out there despite the graft involved.
Show them you are something different and ring the depots (find the managers names by hook or by crook incl Northampton head office), write to them, shower every single depot manager with your CV, don’t stop pestering who you want to work for until you have got hold of a proper manager, then sell yourself…the best jobs have always been like this, never ever advertised, vacancies filled either by recommendation or because you stood out from the hundreds of other hopefuls by showing some guts and nous.

I don’t wave at stobart drivers, i stand and salute them.
Well said.
This is a good move for Stobarts the car transport industry is badly managed and fragmented, Stobarts will turn it around and make it more profitable.
This is the worst example of internet trolling i have ever seen.

Erm, it does looks like a good move £12m for 500 transporters, and more profits in the years to come.

All industries need consolidation, logistics is no different, there will be a few super logistics companies such as Betz, Dentreeangle, DHL, Stobart.

But going back say 20 years ago, was there really any super logistical company’s like stobarts? I think we need smaller more reliable hauliers sharing the monies.

Meaning the fleet needs replacing, do keep up.
There are an awful lot of 6 or 7 year old transporters coming onto the market at the moment, at one time these were cut up with a gas axe
