That cut down cab (which means he carries an extra vehicle per load which pays him probably an extra £1/2000 a year) means he’ll probably gross between £45k and £50k this year plus nights out on current Walon2 agreement.
I suspect he’ll be laughing last and loudest, especially when the pay rise the new owners will award gets agreed.

I was only chatting with a tramper parked up with me this week ,he’d just transferred onto different work ,he was told he’d be on £41k p.a ,in his words he said he’d be lucky to make 25 k :unamused: :unamused: ,I was told by our trampers it’s £200 p.w more ,not when your parked up from 4.30 p.m to 7.30 am its not ,it’s £90 p.w night out money more that’s all :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: .
You go on with your £50k p.a ,47 k bio mass ,£41 k trampers money , I’ve been there and seen the reality ,and reality is bad enough in a high line cab ,never mind something the size of a bloody dog kennel :unamused: ,best of luck but I wouldn’t do it when asked to go to Oxford ,Southampton ,Bristol ,and looking in his cab made me 100% sure I’d made the right decision .
And he wasn’t laughing ,think he might want new door hinges :exclamation: :exclamation:

A pal of mine used to work for Walons for 12 years till stobarts took over and laid him off, those figures above are spot on to what he mentioned to me. He went on to say that there are a couple of old boys there of close to retirement age on an original contract from decades ago at £70k pa, he said it was the best job he ever had.

The person the old hand’s, who are still on car transporter work, can thank for the salary’s that they may be on now is Alan Law. He was a TGWU regional rep; in the early 70’s, IIRC he was an ex transporter driver & a shop steward in the Midlands area, when he finally came off the road he fought for better rates and conditions of work for all car transporter driver’s. It was the job to have in the 70’s & 80’s that’s if you could even get an interview, it was definitely seen as a ‘dead man’s shoes’ job and it was all very unionised. He got the transporter co’s; to set the standard for training, routing and higher pay rates for the extra responsibility taken on by the drivers. Can anyone see this kind of thing happening from a union rep now ?

An original contract from decades ago ,70k    ,seems we’ve gonebackwards from the 50,s ,60,s    wage wise .
Seems these Walton drivers are up there with the best when it comes to telling whoppers ,my guess is half way down 2 nd page and well of hit the 100k p.a from decades ago

I was waiting for the ridicule, suffice to say my eyes have been opened wide as to what can be earned on transporters, being more skeptical than most people, just ask what any Ford, STVA, GEFCO and ECM drivers earn, you will be surprised. I have no reason to doubt what he tells me, he is not the B.S type.

Hi everyone in the car transporter world you can earn a lot with the company I work for its all down to how hard you work to what you take home but a lot of people find out quick it’s not for them

45k is pretty average for a transporter driver doing a handful of drops a day.

Transporters are still very unionised and are probably one of the last places in this industry where good money can be made.

Its hard graft and tough living if your a tramper and your reputation is all important as you need to be known as someone who can do the job with minimal damage. The reason I say minimal damage is because all transporter drivers at some point damage cars or vans due to drop locations etc. This time of year is a nightmare with the trees being full of leaves covered in rain :frowning:

As for pay - If your good at your job and drive something like an 11+ transporter - £50k is easily achievable at the right firm and that would be Monday to Friday as you run out of WTD hours pretty quickly with all of the loading and unloading. How do i know this? Its what I do  - However its not for everyone and the drop out rate is high due to the hard work and conditions.

The acquired business operates approximately 450 vehicle transporters with strong, long-term relationships with the majority of the leading OEMs and vehicle leasing companies.

It’s a business Palmer-Baunack knows very well. She was CEO of Autologic Holdings plc, and went on to become deputy CEO of the Stobart Group following its takeover of Autologic for £12.4m in June 2012. She became executive chairman of the Stobart Group in January 2013, but left the business just three months later.
So Palmer-Baunack knows very well. She was CEO of Autologic Holdings plc just needed new trucks then Lol.
Cheers Welly

Ive just googled imaged that Palmer bannock, she is a wee ■■■■ btw.
