So are these rates lies ?
WTF? They are concrete mixers! FFS! Unless you need a class 1 to mix mortar for brickies?
Beetlejuice:
So are these rates lies ?
Not lies, just inclusive of things like meal allowances etc. You actual flat basic rate will be less.
Honestly, for me it’s all about how much lands in the bank every week. Only sticking point for me is if they expect to pay you 45 hours @ flat basic rate when your on holiday leaving you out of pocket. Stobart drivers earnings are otherwise very little different if not a bit better to what you get elsewhere doing general haulage.

I am currently working for them via agency and was talking to an employed driver and he said the money was pretty good with all the extras, meal and uniform allowance as well as fuel bonus. He did admit the holiday pay is a bit of a drop though

In fairness to the lion taming, plate spinning crew, you do get £15 per day tax free thrown on top. So you end up with over £10 per hour. That whole £15 quid extra a day but being fair the job is ■■■■ easy.
Not for dozy, it isn’t - the weekly descent into Friday hell is legend on here.

How are they working oit 17% tax? income tax is 20%

They pay you ‘tax free’ extras like a meal allowance and nights out money.
No different to me as a self employed logistics contractor* paying less tax as I knock off things like training, work clothes, mobile phone, travel expenses and other legit costs.
I’ll pay zero tax this year. If you include my personal allowance. I’m not full time though.

noty according to the first example… (50 * 8.68) - ((50 * 8.68)) * 0.17) = 360.22 (my maths) but they say 358.19 then they are adding on the meal allowence.
example 2 is 19%. but trampers are at 20%

ALL RATES ARE GONE UP. Your example is wrong.
The Day Rate is £9/hr. now. Night Rate, Saturday, Sunday, Bankholiday is higher.
Also if you work lets say:
07:00-20:00 = 13 hrs. -0.45 minutes break > 12.15 hrs. paid
From that there will the 1.15 hrs Night Rate because the pay changes.
06:00-18:00 Day Rate
18:00-06:00 Night Rate
Not super duber rates but good for a Newbie. Other BIG General Hauliers pay less or the same. At least here you get free CPC, free work uniform, all legal (don’t listen to Dozys adventures and stand up if they want something fishy doing ) etc.
But each to their own. Of course they’re not the best employer and don’t treat everybody with respect but there are lot of similar and worther companies.

Just for your info:
You can work for their inhouse Agency “The Logistics People” as Ltd. Company Driver, they even offer casual shifts, but I don’t think they pay £20 per hour on week nights. You will get a better rate on Nights on Weekends and Bankholidays.
I know that they pay a “peak time hr. rate”. Maybe it’s good to boost your XMAS Money a bit.
I’m just telling you this because you said you wanted to be one of they driving goods and try them.
Tipperdipper1:
free work uniform,
I have personally never understood why it would be considered to be a bonus to be dressed in an employer’s choice of clothing just to drive a truck. I generally prefer to choose my own clothes, rather than letting Mr Stobart dress me in his favourite colours.

Absolutely correct - like me you must have contacted them and enquired about work? It would be a bit sad if you were just randomly reading about a companies agency to be clever on the internet.
But I guess your reading skills are not too great - I’ve never said I want to be one of the driving ‘goods’ (presume you mean gods but are illiterate) - I said I’d drive for them if the money was right. Alas, it’s not for me - for you it would probably be a big pay rise though. Best put on your best clothes for the assessment.

Only thinking about you there, trying to give you some info.
Don’t be offended by me (somebody who drives a truck for a living longer than you know the word “truck” )but each to their own.
If you wouldn’t be so arrogant on here, you could be a good guy.

Logistic people offer mainly full time.Good agency, not best pay per hour but no cancel, start time changes.Just one minus. If you work for agency that Stobart not give full time if you aplly. My friend ask one bosses. He said if you aplly for full time that Eddie Stobart logistic must pay to Logistic people 2500.But logistic people agency belong to Stobart group .

don’t listen to me , no I’ve only worked ( other than a 6 month break ) for them for 15 yrs ( how many have you done for them ? ) ,
I’ve heard it all how they only do 9/10 hrs tramping , jobs brilliant , planners brilliant , anjesis being one , then he want to know how fast the Woolworth ferry goes and can he break the speed limit in Scotland , the driver raving and ranting in the t/o either you sort the job out or you can stuff your job ( 2 weeks earlier he told them how the job was done )
I say it as it is so if someone thinks of taking a job tramping they’ll see how it could be not some made up load of ■■■■■■■■ it’s the best job out there which after 15 yrs is long enough to know it isn’t , it’s the same ■■■■ as elsewhere , but lots including you seem to want to paint stobarts as better than everywhere else , it’s not , nowhere near it

I thought you’d been round the block long enough Harry not to be taken in by this rubbish , if , and that’s a big if you can actually get someone to order a uniform you’ll just get the basic stobarts uniform , if you want anything else, high viz tops you pay , trousers ( high viz ) you pay , high viz jcts you pay , boots you pay ( though if you get them from screw fix you can claim money back )
que - I work for stobarts mob and they provide me everything I want at the drop of a hat :roll

It’s a (small) monetary bonus as far as I am concerned. My lot provide shirts, sweatshirts, trousers (or shorts in my case), waterproof jackets and trousers in company colours/with company logo, plus of course PPE in the form of boots, hi-viz, gloves etc. So that’s maybe a couple of hundred quid of my money I haven’t had to spend, plus the ongoing cost of replacements over the years (I also get another 60 quid on my tax code, which gives me a whole extra pound in my pay packet each month - Yay!!!). I couldn’t give a fig what colour clothes I wear at work TBH.

Ignore the percentage figure they quote as it is meaningless - they have worked out the total deductions (Income Tax and NI, assuming “standard” tax codes and NI rates) and quoted that as a percentage of the Gross pay.
