Not another Stobart thread. Pretty soon people will be calling this 'Stobart Truck Net UK '…
Yep, too right mate, too right!
In fact they should attach Stobart’s website to this forum and make it a STICKY.

I just don’t understand all this stobarts negativity on this site. Yes they undercut rates and have done for years but thats no different to any other large haulier. They employ thousands of otherwise out of work truckers let alone the warehouse workers and office staff. And now they are giving people a chance to stand on thier own 2 feet.
Before anyone asks I am not a stobart boy never have and never will be I won’t be taking up the offer, but that’s because I have other things in place. But if I only had 12k to spend and wanted to be self employed then I would at least take a look.
If stobarts stopped trading what do you think would happen? The business would either go to another large haulier or abroad

so, why in your opinion do you think stobart is putting this package in place ?
From what I’ve been told this offer is so far just for their employees, whatever role you may play in the company.
It is just a way (In My Opinion) to cover work & lease trucks out into the bargain, as I would imagine that’s all that’s happening here, you are leasing a truck off Eddie Stobart Ltd.
Rest assured you will only make what you need to cover your costs & pay yourself a wage! These schemes have been on the go for over 30 years in one form or another.
Another angle to look at is Stobart have lots of day men and night men & a large trunking operation so if he has a Crick dayman in London who obviously needs to get home & there is only one load guess who is going to get it, while the ‘Franchisee’ trundles off to Southampton, Bristol or somewhere for his.
The only advantage I can see is that you can drop & catch different trailers in one day, i.e. from a Tautliner to a Fridge to a Skelly, etc, etc. That is of course providing there is enough work left after his fleet have took the cream, this is not a Stobart thing, Hauliers have been doing it for years, doing the best work themselves & running a fleet of subbies to clean up, ask any one involved in bulk haulage!
It’s so any aspiring Owner driver can have a well founded start with an honest caring and thoughtful benefactor. Where else could you invest 12 grand, get a top of the range motor and all the work you can manage at very good rates? they are doing it for you, not for themselves. Trust me I believe in them absolutely, still waiting for my half mill to came from Nigeria as well…
This site has a search function.
If people used it more then we wouldn’t end up with endless repeat threads like this one.
Mods should either close it or merge it with the other 5 or 6 on this same subject.

From what you have been told■■?
Then why advertise the Franchise Opportunity in the SUN Newspaper? They tried to offer it in house and didn’t get enough response, so they threw it to the lions.

As anyone bought into the Stobart Brand? Was it worth it?
Yes MMTM that he’s been invited to Oshogbo to start Stobart Nigeria. Night trunk from there to Lagos, double manned. He’s getting a new longline so he can take passengers and get a bit more out of the trip. No tachos, no vosa, no pesky weighbridges or checkpoints. Want some squirt? Knock a hole in that pipeline and fill 'er up mate.
Apparently the main reason they’re setting it up is to get away from Dentressangle, he’s too scared to try and colonise the dark continent. The secondary reason is that with girls names getting chavvier by the week in the UK, they’ve decided that African ones iz much more classy innit.
Can’t wait to see what an AU Community Authorisation looks like!
Only reason stobarts are doing this, like any firm that does this, is simple , they ain’t making enough profit, they need a mug for the heavy loads etc, empty running, this will not be in the owner drivers intrest, besides if your a driver these days and have 12 grand to chuck away, then can I intrest you in a bridge, its in London at the minute, I think I can get it cheap…

Somebody tried to sell me a franchise erecting estate agents boards recently. They wanted £9K for what amounted to a list of phone numbers and an answering service… Just because people do it, doesn’t mean it’s any good. Ever seen a happy snap-On man?
Yes actually I have. He loved the job said the money was brilliant and that its tge best thing he ever did. Same for a Mac tools man aswel

I thought Facom too, after my mate worked for Wurth and each week they put his targets up as we were going into the last recession.
