Starting new job on nights

Drinking water. I go through about two litres a night. With the windows up and heater on you’ll start to dehydrate, this can exaggerate the effects of fatigue. Stay away from energy drinks and coffee, they may offer a short term boost (enough to keep you going for an hour) but you’ll feel worse then ever once the effects wear off.
Oh, and try and keep to working hours over the weekend, it’ll make Mondays much easier!
A bloody good map, random road closures are a nightmare. You WILL take a diversion on your first week, guaranteed.
I love nights, wouldn’t touch days unless it was a wonder job.
Cavey.

Blimey! I’d be back and forth to the bathroom all day, if I drank that much whilst on night shift…

The moment you feel thirsty mate, the body is already dehydrated…
Cavey speaks perfect sense!

I don’t doubt it. I just found there was a fine line between drinking enough during the night, and not getting enough sleep due to spending all day wearing out the landing carpet…

^^^ tell me about, trouble is as it gets colder it’ll be girly wees till the spring when hopefully me old mate will once again re-appear… :open_mouth:

I used to do that but found I needed a very very mild sleeping tablet to get off in the afternoon and I made sure I had either an eye mask or black out the room entirely otherwise I suffered with headaches due to the eyes not getting ‘light rest’

Tonight is my very last night shift after doing them for the last 13 years, can’t say i will miss them one bit.
