theres some on the A361 North Devon Link Road Laughing Laughing Laughing
The amount they make from speeding fines on that road I am hardly surprised.

theres not a road anywhere on the uk network that has speed limits posted percifically for hgv’s,
I’m fairly sure there was such a sign on the A75 (Gretna - Stranraer) last time I was there. Maybe one of the regular A75 racers could tell us!!

Well there are signs with a truck and 40 beside it
i stand corrected, spose just cus i’ve never seen one or the fact they’re not in the highway code dosn’t mean they don’t exist
i’ve only took an interest in this thread because the original poster is referring to to something i’ve posted on another site, basically i’ve picked up two speeding tickets in two days on the same stretch of road, that road being a single lane stretch of the a1 between berwick and edinburgh and obviously a 40mph limit for me. having received the photos and checked the distance between the marks on the road with the body responsible for the cameras in question, it now appears that the recorded speeds of 50 and 52 mph maybe grossly inacurate, something backed up by the tachographs on the dates and times given. the distance covered in the half second between the two photos taken on each day actually give a calculated speed of 15 and 18mph!
i’ve left it with them to see if they’ll just drop the cases but although it seems from scanning the net that this is a regular occurrence with gatso type cameras when used on long hgv’s, will they be willing to admit the equipment is no good?
i doubt it, so i might end up going to court.

On the A2 jubilee way there are signs in 3 languages, with pictures of different types of vehicle and different road types with the speed limit in both MPH and KPH.
You are right though, most road signs are there for cars. If you wanted signs for every type of vehicle though it would mean huge gantries every time there was a change in limit, with Busses, Cars, vans and trucks on it.
well you relearn something that you should have already remembered every day
i think HOMER ( simpson not the greek fella ) said
every time i learn new stuff the old stuff gets pushed out
i always thought it funny that you could speed up through the little villages by another ten mph
But i do think that its about time we did away with the stupid system of speed limits ie national because the vast majority of the joeys out there have not got a clue i like many others have been given abuse coz of the 40 rule on A roads. maybe back in the day when there weren’t limiters drivers were doing 20hrs a day while having a liquid lunch there was a need for it but in todays day and age with abs ebs tachos wtd and all the rest of it it is a bit out of date IMHO
if im in doubt i always opt for going slower until can be certain what the speed limit is. i do the limit and no more as not losing my licence for getting somewhere 10mins earlier.
alsoif i happen to be on b roads with hedges and mud verges i’ll happily stick at 30 and keep my mirrors attached as lorries coming the other way always seem a bit close to me but then i’m still a newbie
