Speed awareness course

fastlad21:
‘…Do you have to do one of these courses in the area you were caught speeding? Or can you do one more local to your home location…?’

I’m not sure if all regions are joined-up yet: I had to do a 170 mile return journey to Suffolk for mine …on a rest-day!

I was the grey-man keeping zip at the back …which was agony

As long as your local safety camera partnership offers the courses too then most let you take a local course.

That would be brilliant. I’m going to ring Warwickshire council at some point this week and get a definitive answer off them. Thanks for the advice

People, just bear in mind that its not just a £100 fine/points or a £100 course fee and 4hrs of your life.

My car insurance was going to increase by £40 if I got three points…thats £40 for the next 5yrs?? = £200
Also my bike insurance would no doubt have gone up as well. It was a no-brainer for me, and as said above, I also found it worthwhile.

Change your insurance company. Remember reading a while ago that most companies see 3 points as a occupational hazard these days and usually don’t increase.

I got caught opposite the belfrey golf club in Warwickshire. On the letter they sent through the post only gave 2 options of venues I can do the course at. But on another page there is a list of other county’s that run the course. Would I be better to ring Warwickshire council and ask them if I could do it in Essex?

a stobrat driver from crick got caught there too! flashed him twice and he received his NIP in the post :sunglasses: 144 mph bobtail! Rang up the office and plod gave it " it’s a very serious offence, speeding in a truck of that size! " to which stobrat driver replied " see you in court, you thick cut loaf! " :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: and won too!

47 would be a bit harder to fight than 147 haha

If you get done for speeding after a speed awareness course would you get your money back?

Thanks. Hopefully I can get it closer to my home. Don’t really want to drive for 2-3 hours for a 4 hour course

Shouldn’t take you that long, speed you drive at?

Trying to keep speeds down now
