Hi Niall, welcome to Trucknet. Not suggesting you haven’t done your home work, but Sprinter to 20 tonner is a big leap. I guess you will be aware of the cost of operating a vehicle of this size on international work, operator license requirements, etc.?
not to try to hijack this thread but yes, am aware of spiraling costs, this is a neccesitie, with having an up and coming suppliers based in the alicante region on our books the sprinter just doesn’t cut the mustard…
theres always room to learn more, what operator license requirements specifically do you refer too?

mainly the fact that you will need one, and the many hoops to be jumped through to get one.

HiyaI’m planning a trip down to Spain (Javea, between Alicante and Valencia) in September.
I’ve prodded Autoroute and it reccomends:
France: Calais / A26 / A5 / A31 / A6 / A7 / A9
Spain: A-7 to Junc 62.:
hi, i have been living in javea for sometime and have been trucking europe for 28 yrs. look at shipping out of portsmouth overnight to caen or st malo. you will save time and money and road tolls. after september you can get good deals on brittany ferries. the route i use , st malo , rennes n137. a83 to niort. then a10to bordeaux a63 onto n10 to border at irun.
from irun go via pamplona to zaragoza. exit zaragoza onto n330 to teruel. from teruel n234 to sagunto and join motorway to valencia. i do it in 17 hours from st malo by car.
the cheapest way i find is via caen, alencon, le mans, tours , poitersn10 to bordeaux take a62 towards toulouse, exit at pau. towards gan. n134. from gan
n134to tunnel de somport which is border crossing. then follow jaca onto huesca then zaragoza. from zaragoza n330 to teruel then onto sagunto. its nearly all toll free and really empty good wide roads. done it in cars and trucks. . dont hesitate if you need anymore help.

I know a lot has been said about the costs. My brother recently moved to Switzerland and we priced up to do the job oursleves. We couldn’t get it anywhere near the £1800 that an owner driver charged! After doing the job, he got a backload and doubled his money.
