South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

the m reg.foden in this shot was brand new when i took this picture,it later had a nasty accident as will be seen soon.

i later painted all of these and many more in white,as a result of wimpey minerals being absorbed into the tarmac empire.

Hi smallcoal,
I live in Mid Wales. A lot of drivers from this area drove for the above mentioned firms, especially Morfa and Entress.
Cheers Dave.

hi all,
this is m546 dtc the foden eight wheeler,i told you it had a nasty accident, fortunatley the driver was unhurt.

a brand new fully trimmed ready painted cab being delivered.

the truck was striped down and sanded ready for the then new tarmac livery.as i remember this foden was the very first truck in the south wales tarmac fleet to be painted in the now very well known colour scheme that was to replace the wimpey minerals yellow.

we had to follow a strict plan and design as issued by tarmac, this included on this truck and no others,a white chassis! :open_mouth: ,not very practical for a tipper on this type of work.all the others we did after this had black chassis.i think this picture was the last time it ever looked like this.first load 20 tonnes of sinter dust from south cornelly quarry down to the stockyard in the abbey steelworks at margam…what white bloody chassis  .
