These are the 2 Groom And Llewelyn breakdowns posted earlier on in the thread picking up a constructor i was driving before an arguement with a car

The Diamond T has survived and is now in a partially dismantled state in a shed in Cornwall. My brother Lee and myself have recently bought it and are due to move it later this year to our yard about 25 miles away. We’ve spoken to Ron Groom who sold the breakdown trucks about 25 years ago when his father died and he took over. He wanted to do his own thing rather than carry on doing recovery which would have mean’t spending a lot of money updating the fleet. I’ll post updates on here if anyone’s interested, regards, Tony.

hi tony,
thanks for the update regarding your truck.Good luck with the restoration and please keep us posted on the progress.

mechanic77 would like these,as i do.a pair of diamond t’s from groom and llewellyn, north road, bridgend industrial estate.

Hi Andrew,
A bit more info on the Diamond T’s, ours is the one in the background of this shot, it’s a 980 and is one of many converted to C6 Rolls power by the army. If you look carefully you can just about see the modified bonnet to accommodate the air filters. The one in the foreground still had it’s original Hercules fitted and was given by Ron Groom to somebody in Llanelli for preservation. This would have been at least 25 years ago, anyone seen it since?
All the best, Tony.

Hi tony,
Thanks for the information.they were a hell of a strong machine years ago,a real favourite of mine personally because as young boy I remember my father driving one whilst working in the workshop at joint motorways and oddly enough that very same diamond T was parked years later on the yard we trade from when we first moved there back in 1979/80? Why I never took any photos of it escapes me! Can’t recall who in Llanelli owned the other one you refer to though, sorry.
Regards andrew.

Courtesy of Keiran butler here’s my old mate Stan and his colleague Andy loading in Pembroke dock for Stockton on tees yesterday.
