For me best new truck at the show had to be parker’s version 4 fh horse box.some how the term horse box doesn’t seem to describe this outstanding truck accurately.
I have one happy brother in law that has the pride in getting that on the road

Hi sbf10,
Thanks for a great weekend .main man behind the retro is trucknetmember cushtytopline143,seen here patrolling the show ground in his own inimitable manner picture courtesy of Ryan senior.
I’ve just been searching on this forum for any information on a firm I used to work for J Stirlands of Nottingham and a picture came up on this particular topic of one of our old lorries ARB 431T she looked in quite a sorry state so whilst looking through some old photos I’ve got I came across this one of ARB 431T when she was new she was driven mostly on night trunk to Aldershot by Arthur Robert Boulter (ARB) and then by Dougie Windly on the day trunk to the Boots RDC in Cardiff

Hello Barry I started at Stirlands in 1983 as an apprentice fitter and later went on to become a driver but I used to go there a lot as a kid my Dad 2 Grandads and 3 Uncles all worked there so from a nipper I was always riding around in there lorries I can remember a batch of day cabbed 400s they were all W reg I think they bought them cheap because Seddon Atkinson was bringing out the 401 series anyway we had LNU 306W LNU 307W MAL 370W NAU 244W NAU 245W NAU 246W and ONN 85W here’s a photo of NAU 245W loading pet food it was taken in about 1983
they gave us cracking service with little trouble other than the regular hub seals leaking on the group axles sadly Stirlands are no longer around I left in 2003 and now I’m shunting for a living but they were a great firm to work for the lorries weren’t the fastest but they looked after them well and we were paid well I think we were amongst the best payers in the East Midlands I’ve got my own Seddon Atkinson now which took me about 2 years to restore here’s picture of it
