When me and my mate on the Brady Octopus used to stop at Walfords cafe, in Llansamlet, in the late 60’s there was always a Robson driver there, his name was Norman ? but he was universally known, and referred to,as “■■■■■ Norman”.He didn’t stay in the digs at the Cafe with the rest of us but at Ma Phillips(the owner of the Cafe) house,up the road past the Pub :open_mouth: :unamused:  .Norman was a great crack and he was one of Robsons “Star” men as he got a new Foden every few months. He ran down to South Wales every Sunday or sometimes Mondays with a load of Carnation milk.So what he did after he tipped was a couple of locals for one or two of those old Welsh hauliers, telling the Carlisle traffic office,"it’s a bit quiet, but I’ll get a load for Scotch ASAP.The load he always got was usually for Irvine which he would deliver and then he’d pop back down to Dumfries and reload for South Wales ready for the next week.If he couldn’t make the round trip ( because of his commitments to Ma Phillips :open_mouth: ) Robsons would have a loaded trailer for him at Carlisle ! I kid you not, this is a true story of the antics that went on at some firms during that time.Cheers Dennis.

“commitment” that’s what we like to Ma Phillips…

who,s the father of wally     ,because he was always smiling with a ■■■ hanging out of his mouth…
