Tipping in Newport.

You kept your motor tidy Andrew, and in this shot you had a new/newish? trailer as well which helps the shot no end, pity many of the other Joint outfits were not kept as tidy as yours mate! Cheers Dennis.

The abbey trailer park.

Here are a few pictures of evans & Williams from letterston.sent to me by m4dogwalker :sunglasses: .

The colours of the welsh flag :sunglasses: .

One of the smartest fleets in Wales…years ago!

These were a very familiar sight for me 20 years ago.

Loaded ready to roll.

That looks like a lineup o Irish men loaded out o Lanark market waiting to get on the ferry at Stranraer. Eddie.

These volvo’s would be amongst the last motors that evans & Williams had.

They always had a fresh coat of red paint before every MOT

Hi all,
Another cracking shot sent to me by m4dogwalker :sunglasses: .entress from birchgrove swansea.i can just imagine these motors in the winter :exclamation:

Covent garden…all wine bars and restaurants now

Loading channel island tomatoes at Weymouth dock :sunglasses: .

The Entress octopus is backed up onto “The Stones” or cobbles,I wish it had always been as clear as that shot appears, but it was usually bloody chaotic and you always had the porters wanting you to “run round the other side Drive” which saved them having to wheel their barrows to you,you moved at your peril as another motor would nick your spot !! Then you had 3 or 4 barrow boys slinging all manner of fruit, veg and flowers at you so you had to have eyes in the back of your head to keep “the count”,I can’t recall ever been short of anything though when being tipped at Dockers Fruit Merchants in Barrow at 4 am in the morning after doing a “flyer” from London overnight.Bloody gruelling work but a good earner, well it should have been considering I had been on the road, non stop, for over 24hrs! :sunglasses:  :sunglasses: Happy days,Cheers Dennis.

Hi Dennis,
My father back loaded out of there many times in the 60’s for Cardiff market.he still recalls all the porter’s saying"we had a bigger motor than that in here yesterday taffy".
Regards andrew.

I hated that bloody place with a passion, bad enough finding somewhere to park a 4-wheeler but an artic was summat else, times I’ve been round the block and ended up on Southampton Row,and round and round again :open_mouth: . Floral Hall was best place to load, jacknife up to the bay and leave enough room for a wagon to get past. The place was full of fiddling tw*ts,best thing that happened when it were shifted to Nine Elms,I’d gone onto tankers by then.
