I spent one of the longest nights of my life in Behobia, I’d done a couple of collections and was due to fill out next morning, for whatever reason the ‘mozzies’ took a fancy to me and it wasn’t till about 2am I realised I had some ‘coils’ (the ones you light and burn like josticks) and the relief.
I looked like I’d done 15 rounds with Frank Bruno next morking:( I bought one of them plug in thingies as soon as I saw one.

Can anybody remember a guy called Roy (Big 01er IIRC) he drove a tag axle 111 or 141 cant mind, lived in Portugal, did groupage all the time. Always had a good electric pump for diesel…if seen you parked miles away.
Hi Brian
The guy you mentioned was Roy Wilson met him a few times. First time I met him was in Rainham Key Warehousing
when he had a maroon Daf 2800 a little tanker turned up and filled him up with red diesel . Last time I saw him was
about ten years ago in spain he lived near Fuengirola a likable rouge.
what about la jonquera ■■?. anybody got any photos of the 143-450 lying on its side for years. they even resurfaced the tir park around it
also the story how it came to be like that ■■. i heard it was a dutchman who did not get paid so he dumped the truck and went home and over the years it got stripped of anything usefull and the rest is history as they say.

He was a right caracter, wouldn’t like a smack from him though.
I also can mind of one of Stuart Taylor’s (Neil Adcock)trying to get through a blockade somewhere along past Santander, he didn’t get very far.
Whole truck was just about wrecked, think there wasn’t a straight panel on the nearly new FH. Most of the tyres were done as well.
He got glass in his face and splinters in his eyes IIRC. I know he phoned or Stuart had phoned my new boss to assist getting him home.
Very hard to get past the spaniards in those days, especially in Basque country. 100% Solidarity, pity we didn’t or couldn’t do the same.
Rslicker,Brian
Yes remember the Scania at La Jonqura, what about the brand new Dutch fridge with the dummy bulkhead parked opposite the old customs building where we used to clear.

I remember getting the shock of my life at La Jonqera customs, they had a Portugese fridge opened with these Giant fish ‘looking’ out with their great big mouths open. I asked the driver what they were and he said “Tuni”, I had always thought a Tuna fish was like a sardine!!! silly me all part of what’s called education.
i was just in that tobacco shop this monday - Euros 3.45 per pack it’s worth the trip! Helps that our agent’s office is on the opposite side of the road, next to the “French” petrol station, makes for a better excuse for the trip I suppose

never mind eh - at pretty much half UK price they can still raise em a bit more for me, no worries
Ex-haulier, as Gaz says Terry has left us a really nice guy,he used to work for the same company as myself,R&G from Poole.I was lucky not to be on that trip but i know a few that were…If my memory serves right Merv the swerve was one of the characters that was with you,and i seem to remember he telling me they gave him a chair to sit on in the end 'cos he was an old man and having trouble standing
Mappo Tir Tone…Don’t know what you on about, think your minds playing tricks,we never done any of that we were good boys weren’t we■■? 'cos being Tee Total myself i always thought it the past-time of you much older guys trying to regain you youth…
Would go to Hendaye beach on the French side if weekended while clearing at Irun.Plenty of eye candy!!!Does anyone remember a very large driver, for wagon and drag work on Westermans. He died on operating table for a gastric band op.He had to use 2 chairs to sit down.1994 ish.
Does anyone remember the bar down stairs? I remeber my dad taking me down there one night when I was a kid back in 1986 and the barmaid gave me a olive to try saying it was a sour grape from that night on i never touched olives again.
The last time I was there was back in 1999 it had been a while since I had been there but the smell from the jamon hangin in the shops had never changed. I hope one day soon I can take my kids there.

I remember a massively overweight wrestler with long white hair & a beard ,drove a white UK FIAT .The cab lent to the drivers side even when he wasn’t in it. He used to be most weekends at Freds on the mud patch. He used to sit at the bar on two chairs.
