All the Cabs & trailers that solstor have taken on from funstons were on caontract hire but were maintained by funstons.
Solstor couldn’t get enough of their own trucks ready in time & so took on the contract hire of the cabs & trailers.
A lot of the funstons drivers aren’t happy as their wages can work out to alot more than solstors salary. Solstor are trying to come to some aggrement as they want the fusntons drivers to go onto salary instead of day rate & load bonus.
The drivers that were based at Royston yard now have to drive up to yaxley either daily or weekly, so some of them aren’t happy as its extra time being added onto an already long day.
Will have to see what the new year brings and what salary solstor come up with! needs to be good!!!
As far as i know Funstons ceased trading last week
Hey truckyboy thanks for the info. Funstons was a great company until 18 months ago, when a lazy sod got a thick northern (insert word here) to buy into the firm. And it when downhill quicker than eddie the eagle. People employed on silly money who did’nt have a clue what they were doing. And silly jobs they could,nt make money on. (they undercut Nedexo!!!) killed the firm stone dead. Some sensible drivers left and were replaced by temps. I had my airlines ripped off 6 times by temps!. Hence the damage to the trucks.
Oh s’pose before they all go nuts i know there are good temps out there but there are also loads of crap ones.
All good things come to an end i suppose.

I heard he tried to blag waitrose into paying a higher rate on the contract and it was his tactics that cost funstons the job. Is this wild rumour or has anyone else heard similar?

Funstons went into administration yesterday according to the company. Tenon’s Reading office is providing the administrators.
