The early Ford ‘D’ series was the last truck I remember with a ratchet cable handbrake, more notable when I witnessed one make a break for freedom when the cable snapped and the unit and trailer went through the side of the factory!

Cable handbrakes?..Flip flops?
COME ON people…wake up and smell the coffee!
I’ve sent the reg to nodding donkey. Ask him if it’s legit or not. It wasn’t a 54 plate - it just looked like a 54 plate due to the reg. It was actually a 2011 truck/van.
As things stand I don’t want to publically share it on here as the matter isn’t resolved and there could be some blowback to me.
I never said I drove in flip flops. I said I went into a business to fill in some paperwork in them. I don’t think that is totally unreasonable. Apart from the horrific weather at the moment. For driving I have some nice £31.99 Dunlop safety boots from sportsdirect.
I didn’t say…
You drove in flip flops.
You’re really defensive, why is that?

He’s trying to make his story (and his persona) believable.
sammym:
It was a rigid. A small one at that. They are claiming I drove it with brake on and snapped cable.
It was a cable, doesn’t matter about the type of vehicle. The cable is made up with strands of wire, if they break any strands, it’s weakened either by rust or it’s own integrity. It’s still their problem not yours.
Don’t worry about naming and shaming

Because I asked a serious question here and I’ve gotten some great advice. And I don’t want it derailing into am I uktramp in disguise etc, or am I on a windup. I might need to use this thread to ask some other serious questions and don’t want it sidetracked so that more serious posters don’t respond.
If you want to get your crayons out than I have another thread where that happens. Take your conspiracy theories about over there, please.

That’s a tad insulting…
Now, who else do I know that resorts to insults almost immediately?

Now that’s genuinely funny
Anyway - I don’t think it can really hurt me. And given this is a ‘serious’ questions here is my tacho printout. I’ve left my first name and last name initial so you can probably work out that the username is the same person. You can see the vehicles. And you can see the huge break in the middle of the day to swap wagons (it went automatically to break rather than other work randomly). Unless I decided to ruin my Saturday to go on a wind up you can see I’m not actually pretending.

Don’t be such a drama queen mate, nobody is trying to ‘‘hurt you’’.
I just think you have a tendency to over embellish things, and fantasize a bit for effect.
Whether you are genuine?
. Who knows…who cares.
I’m a nice guy…
You really should obliterate the haulier.

By hurt, I meant the company somehow finding out that I’ve posted on here and digging their heels in more. Or the agency finding out and binning me.
I’ve actually not over-embellished anything. I’ve just been a bit useless so far in my driving career. Not all of us are naturally any good - but I’m trying and doing my best.
Anyway like you said who cares - I just hoped it would stop people repeatedly saying I was uktramp etc. As I do want some decent answers of this thread. And will ask another question if agency come back to me and I need to check something.
My mistake so removed.
sammym:
Get’s even better… Neither of the trucks they sent me out in had MOT’s.Links removed following posters request. Colingl
Wrong ! DVSA LGV mots don’t appear on system

You also seem to have a ton of patience aswel mate with all the “big truckers” / Charlie big bollox drivers on ya case aswel.
If you’d have been driving a road god, aka, 44 tonner, this thread would have turned out alot different.
Kudos for not letting the big bollox wind you.
Why didn’t you just leave it in gear when parked up?
I’m intrigued, Was there no tension when you released the handbrake to set off? I think this is a cover up for his own stupidity, ANY driver with an ounce of common sense would realise in an instant the brake was faulty.

Automatic.

I didn’t notice. Maybe I should have. But I didn’t.
Obviously, I was a bit stupid for not knowing. But that doesn’t affect if I should be paid or not. I didn’t damage the brake so they have no reason to not pay.
