Smoking in vehicles is expensive

From Wolverhampton Express and Star yesterday 31 January.

Was he caught by the city council? I have heard (well read on these forums actually so it must be true) that the police have officially stated they wont bother stopping people for smoking in company vehicles.

I’m sure one driver smoking in the cab must be a huge health risk to the residents of Wolverhampton :grimacing:

That 2nd hand smoke can be a right ■■■■■

I’m sure the residents of Wolverhampton will sleep better for that :unamused:

police don’t have any powers on smoking in vehicles, as that its an enviromental health issue enforced by the local council only :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

It does seem to show that they are enforcing it somehow, a bit hit and miss though, do they film you or what? Did a passing council geezer just happen to see this bloke or what?

Also, as it says “It is against the law” so surely the police would have powers over this.

The police uphold the law, or at least they would do if you smacked this jumped up little squirt in the mush :stuck_out_tongue:

How can Wolverhampton be any safer when it has been belching out fumes for years from the factory chimneys.

It’s ‘against the law’ to sell dodgy hot dogs, but it’s not the police who prosecute.

Criminal Law. Civil Law.

The police would only be involved if there was a dispute when someone was trying to enforce the no smoking thing and it lead to something else such as breach of the peace or assault. That’s how you know the guy in the RDC who tells you about the copper who pulled him over, climb in the cab and sniffed then fined because he could smell smoke or said, it’s a good job I can’t smell smoke or I would have nicked you is talking ■■■■■■■■.

Thankyou.

So we are still at a mystery as to how this bloke was spotted and how was evidence gained!

Oh the poor children, does anyone have the number for the quitline?

If you smoke in the truck where I work you will face disciplinary action, which could include dismissal.

In Sussex, most local authority vehicles have cameras in them, usually mounted indiscretely on the rear view mirror.
I don`t expect they are the only local authority to do this. Nor do I think they are restricted to just the rear view mirror

How do I know this? My next door neighbour was a council employee, he showed me the camera in his ordinary council supplied saloon car, he was a nark on the parking enforcement team :imp:

I am speaking in the previous, because I now live in Lincolnshire.
