Correct, and yes it is an offence! If the guys caught you up, let him overtake, knock it down a couple of klicks on CC, TOO easy though!

The longest overtake I’ve ever done was eighteen miles. As soon as I got past him, I pulled into the services for a break.
If everyone slowed down because someone was overtaking them, eventually the motorway would come to a complete standstill. Motorways have three lanes, including one we’re not allowed in, for a reason.

Why even bother attempting to overtake at this difference in speed? Especially if you was gonna require a break anyways? All you do is clog up the motorway behind you. Maybe just letting off by 1 mph for 10 seconds, you’d probably never have caught him. 20 minutes overtaking someone is just ridiculous, and ■■■■ right annoying.

Thats not a conversation thats an ECHO ECHO ECHO.
Then there is the overtake when you look in your n/s mirror to see if its safe to pull back in only to realise the other truck went up a slip road un-noticed. For the last 15 seconds you’ve been overtaking nothing with a queue of cars backing up behind !

I always back off if a motor has caught me up, sitting side by side for miles just causes tailbacks behind you which will at some point leave you snookered in its wake.
